the ivy is worse choice as its 5% slower and not overclockable, so 2500K is better, but it all comes down to do you trust e-bay.

Maybe I should get the new 7790, balanced between the 7770 and the 7850 for £120 and an i5

7770/7790 aren't worth laying in i5 machine...

i do own a i5 3550 and a 7770 , no problem so far , i can play everything (almost maxed out) . I have a 20 inch monitor (1600x900) and that's enough for me.

I found a nice 2500k for £140 used on Ebay, Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else. Now I will just get a cheap 7850 and a cheap Intel motherboard and I will be set

VTX is Powercolor, aka TUL Corporation there is nothing bad with them...For sure they ain't popular as Asus,Saphire or Gigabyte but price is of their cars is often 20% cheaper which is good offer since warranty is exactly same or even longer what gives brands above  ;)

Asus,Gigabyte,VTX -3  years warranty
Saphire,MSI,etc -2  years warraty

well , they're cheaper just because they use cheaper components  ;)

and then good luck with an eventually RMA. ;)

Is having a bigger RAM effects the game speed?

Depends really
