Some of apps i have/used to have, thought i share what i liked, altough most of them are useless :P

MX Player - in case theres lack of good default video player, this is a good one
Adobe Flash Player 11 - can't be downloaded from google play anymore, but if you download it its the only way to run embedded yt vids in sites
Adobe Photoshop Express - some photo editing, maybe be quite useless tbh
Aldiko Book Reader - best book reader imo
AndroZip File Manager - zip manager
Angry Birds - cool game
Angry Birds Space - like ^, but even cooler imo
Bad Piggies - cool game
Battery HD - app that analyzes battery usage and tells how long you can do something before battery runs out
Best Wallpapers & Backgrounds - nice bowser for wallpapers
Chrome - much more features and is faster than default browser, unfortenatly default browser scrools much more smooth, so i use both
Fruit Ninja Free -  cool game
Google Goggles - point camera at something and google will try to find it for you
Google Translate - translate
Messenger WithYou - MSN mobile
Metal Detector - kind of silly, but cool how it actually works, using digital compass sensor
My Tracks - record your running/cycling path, get average speed, etc
Scan - take a photo of those rectangle codes and it'll find product or url for you
Skype - skype mobile
Steam - steam mobile, doesnt inclue games for android
Street View on Google Maps - actually helped me finding something
Twitter - mobile twitter
OfficeSuite Viewer 6 - viewing powerpoint/word/excel etc documents, editing in paid version
Notification Toggle - for some phones where the wifi/bt/etc toggles is lacking at notification screen this adds them, and is very customizable
Temple Run - cool game

My new phone, definitely an improvement to my old Motorola Cliq/Dext.

Need to root it, stick a custom rom on.  Maybe today or tomorrow.

I'll read through this thread thoroughly to get some advice on the kind of apps you guys are using.

whatsapp, fb, waze, netflix, cant remember others
I would much rather be hated for what I am than loved for something that I'm not

Me and a friend were playing Multiplayer Minecraft on it lol

WhatsApp is cool, saves a bit of money too.

Netflix, you the man.  I have LoveFilm.... who don't allow streaming to mobiles :(

I only found Chrome To Phone, I guess it's a Honeycomb/ICS app?  I'm currently on Gingerbread.

Its an ICS/JB only, plus over the time i lost all interest on it, because, even though it is faster, scrolling is much more laggy even on high end devices and it sometimes does weird stuff with the auto resize. Now i use Dolphin(+ Jetpack addon that makes it much faster, its ICS/JB only though :( ) and stock browser instead.

I love Chrome (PC), mainly because it syncs my bookmarks.

There is a ICS and JB port for the Desire, I might try it out (But we all hate lag, so might be best to keep it on GB, we'll see).

Dolphin is a good browser, but I prefer to use Opera Web Browser, kinda got hooked on it while using my crappy old phone (Cliq).

Nice phone Sedic!  I like the phones with Keyboards.

Nice brick, Exodus!

Opera has cool data compression service, but it lags behind any other browser pretty much, but it all comes down to user experice obviously, so any preference is good.
here's review of the most popular browsers: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/android-web-browser-recommendation,3316.html

Going to newer version could work, desire isn't that slow compared to some others, however ICS is known for being laggy in general, so JB would be better option.
