I think your first response is right, if you compare the roads to similarly-sized examples in LS there is still a big difference in traffic.

Edit: I went back and looked at the n00bs/pros plot and concentrated on this sculpture in SF:




Apparently pros pass it on the East side, and n00bs pass it on its West side...quite interesting lol.

Okay, here is the plot with 4 months' worth of data.



It seems so over-exposed you lose all sight of the data, so I will have to change the colouring algorithm.

Okay, I square rooted the count in every box of the array, this gives a buttery-smooth finish on the 4 months of data.



The decompressed raw log is over 500MB and contains over 32 MILLION points. Decompressing the logs (i.e. converting deltas to coordinates) alone takes several minutes.

Again, 3000x3000 image attached.

Edit: I have also attached 4mo_smooth_nosingles.zip which is the same image but where data for cells with single counts has been discarded, this makes it a bit clearer still.
