Topic: my computer window blank

hey guys,

just a couple days ago i encountered a problem.

when i click on my computer from the start menu, the window opens but then nothing loads. the green bar scrolls very slowly across the top (windows 7) but never reaches the end and the window stays blank.

i can bypass this by searching in the start menu, but even when i open for example my external hardrive through there, the files work but the thumbnails are blank.

any ideas as to what has gone wrong? i haven't installed anything but i'll probs run a viruscan tonight anyway.

obviously you tried to restart, maybe also safe mode?

and all the problems being caused by viruses is a myth

when i first start my comp it works fine, somewhere along the line it fucks up.


OK so just then, i clicked on computer and it was fine. then i went into my external HDD and when that loaded, i went back to my computer and it was blank again.
clearly something wrong with my HDD? it's not very old so i cant imagine what would be wrong with it.

try HDD test , i have a feeling it's  a hardware failure

that's problem with the hdd for sure, but its unclear is it just compatibility or really something broke, can you access hdd's properties or it breaks too?

from that pic you posted , i can see that your hard disk reading speed is very slow , so there's a bigger chance that your hard disk is slowly went "bye-bye"

could just be disc drive not responding maybe? being optimistic here though

First unplug external hard disk to make you sure 'window blank' is not caused by that drive.

If problem is gone make sure to repair errors on external drive same as you did last time,re-plug drive on PC
open CMD
chkdsk [drive letter]: /r

Also checking viruses with some Anti virus program on internal and external drive is worth in this case

ok finally got around to doing these things. both the virus and disk check came up with nothing.

any ideas?

Then there is some service disabled but i cant guess which one.
Only solution left is re-installing windows...
