highscore web
« on: March 15, 2010, 04:46:33 am »
highscore was looking at right now, I have an idea for highscore Site.

this is my idea: another leaderboard just for records (top1)
the top1 is a point. but only the top1.

Because this is funny: 13) [SC]phil_ivey 6851

                                5) [eternal] [Babar] 12319
ivey is a very good racer, and eternal is bad

leaderboard top100 records

eg: 1) [UK] snoopy 654
     2) [FSR] devil666 549
    3) [UK] Malysz 450
    4) Madmax 421
    5 )....
    6 )....
     7 )....

I'm sure it would not be in this  leaderboard,[eternal][badar]  :D

wanted to put in suggestions but I can not.

good idea ray. i agree that the current system isn't fair. when we had only 5 records the points were:
1st = 5 points
2nd = 4 points
3rd = 3 points
4th = 2 points
5th = 1 point

this meant that the first record was 2.5x the 4th record when now it is only 1.17x (20 points for first, 17 for fourth).

here's my idea for a new point system:

1=50
2=40
3=30
4=20
5=18
6=16
7=14
8=13
9=12
10=11
11=10
12=9
13=8
14=7
15=6
16=5
17=4
18=3
19=2
20=1

i don't think 2 #10 records should give you the same amount of points as 1 #1 one and this should fix that

what does everyone think?

Sorry but this is bullshit. Nothing against change, but Dabar is ranked higher because he actual plays at the server.

Phil, regardless of his ability hardly ever plays. Can't remember the last time I seen him.

People who don't play often will never get ranked high because there is so many races. Change in the points system won't help.

bleh why did it have to change anyway, i think most people were just fine with the top5 =/

i think myself and most other people were comfortable with the classic top5

I think top 20 is fine, it is less elitist and allows more players to get records, which is a good thing.

How about a pro highscore table that only included top 5 records?

Or break up the whole highscore page and separate it by game mode, with each one being on a tab (Classic, SK, IV etc)?

Agree with quality over quantity.But the thing is a goal to run on, about newbies/medicore playas.20 spot for records will create a better competition and little more fun for medicore people who cant finish higher than 8-10th.
Same, it's like the new F1 point system.. More fair if you win a race.
So do something like that, be more rewarding for higher places.I dont know the new point system in F1 but sure they made something nice lol

i've fixed the problem but to keep this from happening again can the scripters pleeeease add any new values to the very end of the ini file instead of the end of a line. my update script doesn't read the newlines so everytime something is added before the very end of the file it makes all the values one off (2nd=1st, 3rd=2nd etc)

for me mooman points grid  is good
if points are only for top5, noobs cant get recs and wont try to be better racers to get new recs. But with top20, many racers can have recs and it's good for addicting (is addicting a good thing ??) so it's  good for the server.

other way , rewarding top1 ( 2 , 3, 4 ..) is much fair. so big players like me or dabar wont be higher than better racers.

It used to be that you won't lose that much points if you have unbeatable records.

I just got hooked a bit more to flying Hydras and look where I fell after 2 months because of top20 :'(

beating recs is a goal  for many players (all ?) if there is only top5 , many of them will see beating recs as impossible and could stop playing.

Can I ask you why some names aren't highlighted ? Like for example in FSR members list only Dev and Riot are highlighted in green.  :)

if you use /setcolour to change your name colour, the website can use it. if you use the menu, it can't. hopefully one of our scripters can fix that :P

I do have one suggestion though. I see that the player stats lists links take you to the profile on the web page. The online players list also does the same. Can the online payers list links make the map centre onto the player you clicked on?

when we have like 50 players that'd mean a lot of scrolling which is why i didn't do something like that in the first place. i'll try it out later, bit tired now :P

update: added IDs to the pin things. hopefully that'll help with finding people

How accurate is it moo, as it doesn't think i am in London, more near Margate...

Plus i like how you have the colours showing in the map pins, can you also make the names the matching colour on the players online list?

It isn't very accurate... when I was at my parents house it was like 50km wrong, when I'm at my student room it is like 300km wrong(other side of the Netherlands).

Well the thing is it's accurate since it shows your ISP, not your location.

highscore was looking at right now, I have an idea for highscore Site.

this is my idea: another leaderboard just for records (top1)
the top1 is a point. but only the top1.

Because this is funny: 13) [SC]phil_ivey 6851

                                5) [eternal] [Babar] 12319
ivey is a very good racer, and eternal is bad

leaderboard top100 records

eg: 1) [UK] snoopy 654
     2) [FSR] devil666 549
    3) [UK] Malysz 450
    4) Madmax 421
    5 )....
    6 )....
     7 )....

I'm sure it would not be in this  leaderboard,[eternal][badar]
try me and i'm no haker like you to make records with hak ;) so u can tell nothing for me records just dont cry its a littile history

When did he state you hacked?

He's just saying that Phil is a good racer, and well, you're not.

By the way, BUMP OLD TOPICS MUCH?
