I was hankering after a Samsung NC10 but can't really justify £300 on a Netbook i don't essentially need (since i have a decent desktop) but have gone out and bought a Acer Aspire One for £150 off Amazon. Anyone here got a Netbook, or know much about Linux? I think i am going to stick Ubuntu on it when i get it to see what it is like, and then stick Windows 7 RC on it to see what it is like.

Netbook is machine only for internet cause inside is Atom processor who works fine with that lite linux version.I think you could try install windows xp on that acer, but win 7 no way cause inside is weak processor and only 1gb memory.

I don't know, i've read on the internet it copes reasonably well. Once i get it i will chop and change the OS a few times to see which performs the better. I mainly want Windows on it so i can used my phone as a USB 3G modem, unless i can find drivers for Ubuntu of course.

My friend had one with Ubunti installed. IMO Ubunti is very limited and a lot different to the common XP we use. He installed XP on it and has never looked back.
CPU 1.6 Atom
512mb DDR2 RAM
4GB HDD

To be honest, all i want it for is the net and maybe emails. If i need to do anything more demanding, i will use my desktop. I do also want it to f*ck around with Linux and W 7RC.

Well i got it this morning and so far so fun. I haven't changed OS yet as i wanted to see if it can do what i need it to do out of the box. Just need to see if i can get my phone to work as a USb modem with it.
