What should I get?
2 Inno3d Geforce GTS 250 512MB cards to run in SLI
or
1 Palit Radeon HD 4870 1GB Sonic Dual Edition card
???
I've read/watched every review on both and I still need some convincing.
These should probably help you help me decide:
Inno3d Geforce GTS 250 512MB (Remember, if I choose this I'll be getting 2 of these to run in SLI)
Specs:
- Graphics Clock (MHz): 738
- Processor Clock (MHz): 1836Mhz
- Memory Clock (MHz): 2200Mhz (1100 * 2)
- Memory Amount: 512MB GDDR3
- Memory Interface: 256-bit
- Stream Processors: 128 Stream Processors
Palit Radeon HD 4870 1GB Sonic Dual Edition

IMO it's close, the price of buying the HD 4870 is $16 cheaper than buying 2 GTS 250 cards but I wouldn't mind it that much if the later is a better option.
So what do you guys think? :)
-
GeForce is best! ;D
-
My head slides to the Ati's one.
Guess they might give out same performance, or maybe differ quite a lot.Ati was bad at driver coding when i was following news and shit.If theyre still same at it... Get Nvidia.
-
4870 looks better, IMO ;)
-
Only ATI, you won't be disappointed :D
-
Ask snoopy what he thinks about ATI lol :L
-
ati suck, i can assure you that it gives low fps on san andreas, my 9600gt pwns the shit out of my 4850, and that card was meant to be a beast.
-
^
pure true
-
What if I pair the HD4870 with a Phenom X4 9950 (2.6GHz and I plan on installing a CM Hyper Z600 heatsink to overclock it to around 3.5GHz) ?
-
i really dont know tbh, iv'e lost all faith in ati, your call lol
-
I think you should take 2 X GTS 250 and when you run them on SLI, this config can be fast as 9800GX2 ~ GTX 280(single), and in most of games faster than HD 4870, 4890 ;).
-
I think I'm in now favor of buying the 2 GTS 250 cards after reading this:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/gf-gts250-sli_14.html#sect1 (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/gf-gts250-sli_14.html#sect1)

As you can see, running 2 GTS 250 cards in SLI is actually almost better (and cheaper) than buying even a GTX 285. :D
-
nice hehe
-
yep You can think also about one GTX 260 (216 core in 55nm) and overclock it, or buy even 2 used 9800GTX cuz its same card as GTS 250, but much cheaper ;)

*gives Snoopy a cookie
-
Nvidia is compatible with almost all games, if not all, a friend of mine couldnt run mirrors edge cuz he runs ati and amd, n00b

the shop where i'm buying my parts sells gts 250 cards much cheaper than 9800gtx cards :L

red light district :D
