Title: Just a quick question about memory/ram
Post by: [MAF]Snoopy on January 02, 2013, 08:22:19 pm
Bought x2 of this http://www.ebuyer.com/342434-crucial-ballistix-elite-2gb-ddr3-1600mhz-pc3-12800-memory-module-cl8-1-5v-ble2g3d1608de1tx0ceu

also I have 2x 4gb sticks of SpeckTek Select (rubbish stuff that I've never heard of) 1333mhz memory.

Is it ok to mix modules? As long as I set the timings and speed to be the same it should be ok?

i don't think it should cause any trouble, i have 2 sets of different modules myself

As long as it runs in dual channel mode to get the best performance I don't see a why there should be a problem either :)

to answer your question directly, yeah it will work, it will be ok at same speed/timing.
but afaik CPU can only feed the modules at one clock speed, therefore your 1600mhz modules would be bottlenecked by 1333mhz ones, and set to 1333mhz too.
and dual channel mode should run (if it doesnt, swap them around in other combination).

I see, thanks. Also It shouldn't affect my 3670k APU performance should it? I use my 7850 instead of the APU graphics, and APUs love faster memory

as the GPU part is the memory intensive one in APU i think it should be fine as long as 7850 is doing all the work.
