Steam is waaaaaaaaaay better with their sales and everything else it provides too. They've had loads of Rockstar sales in the past and most likely will have more in the future. If I happen to decide that I want some of them now, then I'll get them through steam :(

Good luck. If it's v3 like Steam version it won't be moddable, and won't be compatible with SA:MP. However, as you say: it'll probably have bugfixes.
