I was wondering what do you guys use to play all your media files; video files in particular.
First I tried one of those codec packs with tons of stuff to let you play almost every media format out there in addition with Media Player Classic but I found that some video formats don't get decoded quite good plus a lot of the other codecs I never really needed nor knew what they were for.
Then tried the VLC player. Great player tbh but has some issues with Real Media codec and H264 HD video codec; video in .rmvb played quite 'laggy' and some others would only play audio track but no image.
After that tried Media Player Classic with no codec pack. Also great player cause you can configure it to use HD video codec but again no support for real media.
So I went and get another player just for real media, but I don't like having that many players in my system. I think only one or two would be more than enough to play any media file.
Hey now that I'm writing this I'm thinking that maybe I should have get codec for real media and configure MPC to use it also.....
So... what do you guys use to play all your media files?

Winamp.
I like the Shoutcast feature and all the plug-ins you can have. Not to mention the way it lets you organise and play your library without loading so much garbage like WMP does.

winamp sucks for playing videos =/

Hmm didn't played much with players but in last period i am using BS player

media player classic home cinema for me. it's an updated version of the original mpc which i think stopped being updated a while ago. it doesn't come with every codec so you have to install some but once you have them, it works fine. get something like the k-lite codec pack (i think it even includes mpc-hc) and you'll be able to play almost anything.

For playing *.mkv, *.rmvb and other HD videos i tried VLC, winamp, media player classic. But the best is KMPlayer imo. By me it plays HD videos without any stuttering and both video and audio are synced between each other, while other players has these problems.
For other videos (like DVD-rips, CAM-rips) i mostly use VLC.
And finally, for music i use XMPlay with Izotope Ozone addon.

WMP for music, VLC for video.
That said, i don't watch a lot of video and most of it is in the avi wrapper. Gods knows what codec they are using inside.

Winamp for music. jetAudio for movies and other videos. If the previous player can't play some files (which has happened only once and that file was WMV3 lol) I use VLC. Overall: Winamp and jetAudio ftw.

.....memories from Gran Turismo 2 coming back to me.....
BTW
I'm sticking with WMP for mp3's and MPC for videos, just needed proper codecs installed.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
