Some of the UK people may know about this, but there is a campaign to get Rage Against the Machine's Killing in the Name of tune to the number 1 spot in the UK charts for Christmas instead of whatever shit X Factor pumps out this year:

In Netherlands we have a radio station who makes a top2000 out of the best hits ever produced. Previous year the daily newspaper of the Northern provinces took an initiative to get a (popular) song in dialect to the top of the top2000, but the radio station decided to ban the song because it wasn't allowed to promote songs through the media :L lol.
