Well since this topic recently came up in my life again, I think it's a good idea to share about what people are studying, going to study and if you already finished studying, what's your profession.
Recently (last monday) I quit on veterinary, and I think I will start with Software Engineering on January. So that's me, what about you people?
-
I'm finishing my Bachelors degree in Social Geography & Planning. This is a 3 year during study, after this I probably go for the Masters degree in Economical Geography.
-
I'm currently studying on a Master degree on management, more presicely, Strategic and Corporate Governance. That's my 6th and last year, finally :L
-
I'm still doubtful what to choose. It's either History or Siocultural Anthropology (it's basicly Ethnology). These study programs require same exams and a whole year mark from geography.
-
I'm studying for NDA (National Defence Academy), but i'm just 13 now, gonna become an army officer.

In Russia that sounds to me as learning how to be corrupt :L

Nope, unfortunately there's no discipline that touches such questions :( I guess it'll come by itself with the actual job experience :L

such nice places to study
-
I started my 1st year as "Technician of operationing the airports and terminals". Basicly it's not related only to the airports. It's about all kind of ports such as: marines, land transports, inland transports etc. Basically it's also learning some law about all these kinds of ports and how are they operating.
So yeah... That's 4 years long profiled school untill I got technician degree.
However, finding a job nowadays requires some luck or other poeple involved. It's not said anywhere I will indeed grab some job at the airport.
Anyway I will have 1 month practise in the airport after 3 years of studying. Some of poeple are lucky enough to get a job then.
P.S not giving pics since school is really "decent", not University lol.
-
gonna study medicine technology then medical prop, gonna be a long ass 12 years of study again :-\
-
It's the second oldest university of my country (my university is established in 1614).
Some more info for whoever is interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Groningen

I'm studying medicine ;D
Cool, how does it feel to be a medicine student?
Nice, too bad that this year, as it's sort of an ''introductory/nivelatory year'' I'm not doing things directly related to medicine, I have 8 subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History of medicine, Critical thinking, Bioethics and First aid.

math and physics are not related at all to medicine, but I think chemistry, biology, history of medicine and bioethics are pretty much related as a veterinary student I think those subjects are very important. I have those too in first quarter program. 1st quarter: inorganic chemistry, biology, zootechnics 1, statistics and medical terms. 2nd quarter program: zootechnics 2, marine mammals, organic chemistry, anatomy 1 and histology.
(yes I'm back to veterinary, I sucked real bad in software engineering)
here the campus https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.204433499682748.42592.203827266410038&type=1
-
I know what you mean, but I'm having ''general'' chemistry and ''general'' biology, and lots of what I do there has nothing to do with medicine :(
-
well, by general biology you mean cellular biology, because if that's the case, that's kind of important. Is this the first time you take these subjects?
-
First year in uni, so yeah, first and last time I have them as basic as they are now. And no, I didn't mean cellular biology, I started with plants... :/
-
fuck me, now that's unnecessary
-
It is, it's something to just nivelate the people, but yeah, it's unnecessary, next year (actual 1st year of the career) I will have subjects directly related to medicine, like Anathomy, Histology, Molecular biology, etc..., this year kinda sucks for that :L
-
are you in public education or private? Because here in the private area you start with related subjects from start hehe (just statistics, kinda pointless in medicine
-
Public :p
-
No school for me anymore O0 Well I'm engineer...
I finished the University in 2010 with profile: Science of Systems, Automatics and Informatics Department. Then I followed Master on the same profile, i finished master studies in march this year.
-
heh thats why, in public sector they give you more subjects so you take longer and pay more, even if it is a lot less you still have to pay a part right?
-
No, public education here it's completely free ;D
-
wow here it's free until high school, in university level you have to pay like 20% and private it's like 115% heh, stupid special taxes on private education
-
wow, didn't know that, here we can to choose, if we want we can pay the entire education (since kindergarten) or have it completely free, so we have public/private kindergartens, schools, universities, etc...
-
i have an ambition to become a pilot in future :) if no, captain or mma fighter
-

yeah yeah, here we can choose from public and private too, but it's free till high school, university is not free, but the amount to pay is really small compared to private hehe.

my dream was to become a wrestler, but here in Costa Rica the wrestling business is dead so I had to choose my second favourite

studying Master of Science in Economic Geography now, probably my last year as a student..

some tae kwon-do, but then I took an arrow to the knee, actually my knee dislocated
-
my knee dislocated
Ouch! I've done that a few times in my life. It gets less painful the more it happens though.
-
actually my knee dislocated
happened to me too :(
was just "dodging" chairs in classroom lol, was heck painful ( much more painful that breaking ankle in 2 places...)
-
heard from some women that for them it hurts more than giving birth, so there's nothing to be afraid of for us, we have felt the maximum pain :P yeah I also heard it hurts less if it happens again, hopefully it wont happen again
-
2002 - dislocated knee during a fight (hurt the most because of first time, and the only time I needed to go to hospital because of passing out from the pain)
2004 - dislocated knee playing football (painful)
2007 - dislocated knee walking down some steps (not too bad)
2011 - dislocated knee standing still at work, but I was like fuck it and carried on working after putting my knee back inside the socket by myself lol (painless, almost)
and some usual knee twists over the years as well but that's nothing compared to dislocations
-
poor knee
-
i want to see this :
2012 - finally had the operation to fix it
-
2022 :D
-
I study life on the edge! :L

wtf?
ive never had serious injuries in my life. though my childhood was pretty active
-
Just a weak muscle above my knee cap. My legs are a weird shape, not totally straight. I think they're called knock-knees
-
wtf?

its just bit other shape of knee, it is moved towards middle a cm or two, very common.
you don't have to do extreme sports while it happened, just turned badly, and once it happened it will happen again most likely, cuz its then stretched, most likely surgery is needed.
that is just bad luck, i cant call my childhood very active, but ive had a broken + dislocated ankle in 2 places, and this.
-
ugh so I got kicked from university... failed 2 subjects for the third time...bastards give some people a last chance but they didn't give it to me, I could sue the assholes, but even if I win they would find a way to kick me out just because I sued them. Anyway another university will open veterinary career next year, so I will just wait and start there (with subjects I already approved in the shit hole)
-
ugh, that really sucks :(
-
UPDATE well the university that is going to have veterinary medicine is taking things really slow, so I made my mind. Im trying something else, and this something else is something I like doing. Tomorrow (its still sunday here) I'starting a gastronomy career. This is the only university in the country that has this as a career. When I finally get my title (hopefully) I will get a local title and a title from Glion with Le Cordon Bleu approvals. So I could work almost anywhere I want and make good money for something that I like doing :D

that's cool about your new career knu, good luck.
i've said it before and i'll say it again: andy, fix your leg already.
about me: starting from september (after a few years of delay because i didn't take work seriously or know what to do) i'll be doing physics at university. i already have a place, just having a gap year at the moment cos i didn't sort my paperwork out for funding in time for this year :blank:
-
i'll be doing physics at university.

@Snoopy: Fix your knee. It's not your fault it's broken, but if you fix it ASAP you will only benefit.
-
I don't like it when my doctor starts touching my knee cap and moving it around :(
Might as well be Jimmy Savile touching my penis :/
i'll be doing physics at university.

Just Finished high school exams and going to graduate from it in the next couple of months still confused about my university classification .... i'm shooting for something big so it doesn't matter how hard the subject is.
i'm a beast when it comes to Politics, history and literature, so i'm thinking of political science, but the question is what kind of job would i get if i get to political science ... any suggestions ?
-
