Title: Ramming in GTA IV races
Post by: [MAF]Snoopy on December 26, 2010, 09:28:01 pm
Apparently there's a rule in IV mode where you are allowed to ram and block other players because you shoot a gun?

I don't like it and I think it's stupid, I hate being rammed. What about everyone else?

I agree with you. I don't ram in these races even when it's allowed.

I also didn't like it and first kept not-ramming but now i sometimes do...  but I wish it gets forbidden again.

imo the only players that could be allowed to ram in IV races are those without shooter against players shooting them.

anyway in /rules i don't think it's written: "NO RAMMING (except in IV mode)"

imo should be allowed. it's hardcore mode with shooting so blocking it's part of that. it is point of IV mode

Look, imagine in Formula 1 they'd allow racers to use machine guns. I'd find it kind of absurd if the rules said: "OK, you can shoot everyone, but ramming is a no-no." The guns in IV are used as offensive power, to kill the driver or pop the tires so you would capitalize on their misfortune. They're only used as a defensive power if you're in front and someone is right behind you, but then blocking could also be considered a defensive power cause you're defending your position. If you let us use guns in that mode, then let us ram as well.

Some servers have happy hours when certain rules are omitted for a short time. Seeing as IV races don't come on often, IV races are Adrenaline Xs happy hours, or rather minutes.

Consider this, why is ramming and blocking bad? The main reasons are that it screws up another persons race and that its a nuisance for a person to get rammed or blocked. But having your tires popped out and losing control, or even worse, getting killed, is also a big nuisance and it screws up your race. By that case, the IV mode should get removed then. But you would say its a DM race mode and its supposed to be like that. Well, if its a DM, its kill-or-be-killed, there should be no rules, aside from hacks and bug abusing.

Well said.

I think ramming should be allowed, but blocking no. I find blocking childish.

voted no

/rules would look stupid

NO RAMMING OR BLOCKING (except in GTA IV races)

makes the server look stupid IMO for having 2 rules that don't apply to 1 race mode

ramming pisses me off, except if it's lag ram which people can't avoid cuz of ping, fps lag etc

blocking is annoying when some slows down purposely, so you go slamming into the back of then and spin out and they carry on driving -.-

I voted yes, but it should stay as it is now. Some people ram accidentally when they get their tires popped out, others ram on purpose. Personally, I ram a bit in these races just for fun.  >:D

I'd like to quote skunk:

Quote

And I don't think we should add one more rule as it would luck stupid. Keep it that way as it is now.

Tom is just mad because I pulled an epic ram on him and Snoopy in an IV race, went into them at a ~90 degree angle when they were going into a tunnel and their car flipped over. (Should have captured that and put in rage guy and troll faces) Snoopy says that he doesn't like being rammed. Well Snoopy, I doubt people like losing control due to having popped tires or getting shot to death in a race, I find it just as annoying as getting rammed, but no-one complains about that...Someone explain to me, whats the point of not allowing ramming in a race in which YOU HAVE A FUCKING GUN? And as for rules, whats difficult to understand about NO RAMMING OR BLOCKING (except in races where you have a gun)? Don't be such party-poopers!

not all of us like ramming people ^_^ you should respect my wishes and not do it to me or the person driving for me lol since i'll also be participating in the race

Not sure on the ramming, but a definite NO to blocking. It's purely to wreck somebody's race, it's nothing to do with gaining time or positions. It does the opposite and looses them!

I voted yes, blocking shouldn't be allowed but if the person in front of me has there wheels popped then I normally give them a nudge to help them spin out.
