I thought this would be an appropriate place to put this thread.
Unfortunately there was a big pile up in the IndyCar race last night.
Dan Wheldon died from the injuries he sustained in the pile-up.
I'm not really an IndyCar fan, but that doesn't make it any less sad.
Rest in peace Dan.

Just came here to post the same, saw it in TV todays morning.
How sad that we still have to see poeple dying on the tracks. We live in world with so many features and things that are better than used to be in past racing but we still can't be safe while we do what we really love.
The only point of such a stupid crashes is to learn from mistakes. Every life lost on the racing circuits should be "replaced" by new thoughts about the safety.
Which car was him? I can't figure it out? He was driving for Bryan Herta Autosport but I can't find a proper car.

Rest in Peace.

R.I.P Dan Wheldon, u were a nice racer :-\

I thought same at first. Thanks Verti. Those fences are deadly for open wheel cars. If it won't kill the driver it will kill a marshal :(((
-
never heard of him!

nasty crash. he just had bad luck. there is not a high percentage chance a car will hit the fence with the cockpit first. sadly you cant make this sport safe to 100%. Bad the guy leaves his wife and 2 kids. :(
R.I.P Dan Wheldon.

Is there any place where you are 100% safe?
-
yes if you sleep I think :o
-
you can die in your sleep
-
hm in heaven
-
you can die in your sleep
I died already many times in my dremas and always woke up. But seriously. If you sleep, you really sleep, you don't feel when you die and you dont care. So I would say you are safe in sleep. :)
-
thats true lol
-
heh, I wake up before I really die (in my sleep)
-
We need an extra lap of the race today behind a safety car or something, in memory.

^I agree with Joe,
to do out of respect for Dan and for Simoncelli.
