UEFA EURO 2016
« on: June 11, 2016, 07:18:47 pm »

Made this topic to discuss the ongoing EURO. A lot of players habe their nations represented. Sadly for me Norway is not :(

Personally, I'm rooting for England. Lot of young talent and great goalgetters in Vardy and Kane. It's been 50 years since they last won something even though they have been close a few times.

My home country (Malta) doesn't even care about football  :L

I support England, but I don't think they will win...they have great strikeforce but at the back very weak.

It is difficult to say who will win...because there are many good teams, I wouldn't be surprised if Belgium will win.

Agreed. Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, maybe Italy. So many good contenders.

Funny game today, Switzerland - Albania. 6 albanian players with roots in Switzerland and vice versa :L :L Also two brothers playing against each other for the first time in Euro history lol.

damn son, such emotional games in the group C.
Poland vs Northern Ireland was so close by the end, but they managed to win.

Germany vs Ukraine was a big match. To be honest lets say that Neuer and Boateng saved the whole German defense..  Boateng with the one save on the line  and Neuer with such amazing saves during the whole game

Even if Carlsberg is one of the official sponsor for this year, due to French rules on alcohol advertising (France do not allow alcohol advertising) they've been forced to change their logo. And if you're asking why the word chosen is "Probably" it's because Carlsberg's slogan is "Carlsberg probably the best beer in the world"

They are in boycott against Croatian Football Federation (HNS) so some of them thought it would be nice to throw flares so UEFA can punish and eventually ban Croatia, it has nothing to do with wasting time .

Not fans, hooligans. They WANTED this, they planned in advance to this match that they will break the match up,  they don't give a shit about the team or how well they do in tournaments or qualifiers, they just care to fucking it up for the rest because it's their way of protesting against our corrupt FA

To be honest, it is a karma for Ronaldo to miss the penalty...after abusing Iceland that they celebrated for a point against Portugal as if they won the tournament..Iceland has like 100k population less than our country. They already have two points on their debut tournament. Hats off for Iceland!

I'm almost sure that Poland will beat them easily. Portugal is pure luck, they don't have play, they don't have tactics, they just pass the ball to Ronaldo and wait for a goal. A clear example is Quaresma's goal against Croatia, the outcome is a  totally underseved elimination for Croatia. Hope that they will get eliminated as soon as possible cause they don't deserve to be where they are.

I guess you missed Portugal-Hungary. I wasn't talking about the match against Croatia, i'm talking about Portugal's tactics, and as you probably know they're well known to be a disorganised team on the field. They're midfield is really confusing, Andrè Gomes did a really bad tournament till now he's been barely able to stop the ball and set an action.

True dat, but I noticed that most of their attacks go via Nani or Quaresma, not Ronaldo. Ronaldo usually camps in the offside.

Done an accumulator bet, 5 pound on Poland to win vs Portugal, Wales to win vs belgium and iceland to win vs france. 1200 pound return hopefully it's the tournament of the underdog.

You'll lose your bet on Wales...

Germany was luckier this time, gg. I feel sorry for Buffon, he guessed the side every time but still wasn't enough.

Lol @ Gio video, nitpicking is real, Cesc Fabregas played with a broken leg for some time in a match few years ago, even shot a penalty too. If we will nitpick...

He shot the penalty without broken leg. After he had shot, his leg did not broke, but he got some kind of hamstring, which is perfectly normal in Football, which everyone can recover from if you stretch out correctly, but as the "pro"-footballer he is, he chose to leave the match and save his "career".
What i am saying is, is that the video perfectly tells how footballer cries about simple injuries, while pros in Tour De France ride with much bigger injuries like Contador in 2014 had a broken shin, when he crashed with 76 kmph per hour, but he still continued and rode up a mountain in the fastest time in that Tour De France.

Look at the video and the comments about Fabregas'es "Injuri". Scores the penalty and starts to walk like he had a muscle injuri. He touches his gastrocenimus, which has nothing to do with "broken leg" he has broken not any bones in his leg. I have never heard of anyone breaking their legs from shooting an penalty. xD xD xD You leg must have had some kind of pressure, like Contador had when he krashed with 76 KMH on rough road. We talking about REAL broken legs where bones get some kind of broken.

Read this, even Wenger & Doctors said nothing was broken: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1263098/Cesc-Fabregas-did-NOT-face-Barcelona-broken-leg-insists-Arsenal-boss-Arsene-Wenger.html

Funny, how he joined Barcalone a season after ;)

It seems like you come with stupid arguments. Pay attention to this video, and i will hope you will get clever.

Okay, I take it back.

But still, comparing fucking cycling to football makes little sense. And yeah unfortunately there is diving, but it's nowhere near as often as compilations make them out to be

Yes by using a sport with doped up athletes as comparison

Yes simple injury such as injuring or toring your hamstring, happens all the time yes. Torn hamstring especially when you tore it, only 6-8 months without playing, simple injury yes

When there are some footballers that tend to fake being hurt, there are the ones that get kicked in the leg for example, or ankle, with the cleat/shoe/boot itself, hurts like fuck if you get hit where your leg protection isnt (forgot name for it), or even more if you get stepped on your foot, ankle or pretty much anywhere. Its like people think footballers are made of steel and are immune to pain, start thinking, it looks most of the time like its not painful, but it is. Maybe the pain wont last for a long time, few mins, no problem, walks it off after
