Decreasing ping
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:44:32 pm »
Hello.

I got a potential solution for high ping racers but I can't promiss it will work for you. I got very low pings already so it did for around 5 ms for me. Friend playing WOW has got it reduced from 160 to 40 so i guess it may work.

TcpAckFrequency

1. Run->regedit
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services -> Tcpip -> Parameters -> Interfaces
3. We search for a folder with DhcpIPAdress in it and IP next to this value. Don't know your IP? (Run -> cmd -> ipconfig)
4. Click RMB on white space anywhere near this value and click New ---> DWORD Value.
5. Name it as TcpAckFrequency, click RMB on it then--->Modify and set value to TRUE (1).
6. Reboot your PC.

You can also use this: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/download13581-LeatrixLatencyFix but I prefer doing such the things manually.

Please let me know if it helped or not.

Not working for low pings that's for sure. But you can see around 5 ms difference maybe. I had 50 and now arouynd 40-45.

Registry have nothing with your distance or even ping,only in case if your system is in really bad condition with plenty of tweak shit which make any game run unstable.

Not really. It indeed does while you can make delay between sending pockets etc lower. Read more about this method.

In previous post i was bit lazy to write more than just registry have nothing with ping,cause playing in registry is risky if you ain't skilled so its more easy to say people it doesn't help so they wont bother to edit something and probably make worst than was before they tried.
It does but you must do more than just of edit one value to true(1)
That is why your tip didn't helped for most of people here.
Check list about TCP/IP there are plenty things to change if you are about to do. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314053
Some people using DHCP,some use static IP on their systems same is with their routers,modems,etc. and hell internet providers...
