Try this Fantomas

It drop temperature over 20c sometimes more depend of model

I am using similar model with 3 fans in my office and temperature never goes over 35c for hard disk and processor 50c  ;)

Many times laptop close because of overheating!Motherboard must be destroyed once again
But i will get a new one really soon so won't bother me anymore!  :P

If you using that then must be problem with stuck air inside laptop=dust
There are plenty videos how to clean dust but if you still ain't sure about that go in service they will fix problem am sure.

17 inch is bit heavy for my taste,of course battery is big problem cause of powerful hardware and when you add there wireless am pretty sure can't stay awake more than one hour...
I know you are on university so am not talking about next gen desktop PC what cost similar cash.Dell gives 3 years warranty which is great offer.
But still that is not worth to kill Toshiba what you own now,why not contact Toshiba service am pretty sure they can deal about that temperature problems,at least when they solve problems you can sell it.
