can we have a mta server for DD and DM maps? there are many more possibilities on mta than samp and most of us get pretty boring of the sa map, so people could visit the mta server for a change. alot of you think mta is "gay" which doesnt have to be true 100% of the time, ofc some people dont like the way things work there and may be against it but im just suggesting. please note that im not saying that we should move to mta but have a server there aswell, for DD and DMs. maybe somebody who knows lua can help develop it? (like karlis), we would also need other admins, who know what a good and what a bad map is and who know whats cheating and whats not on mta. i personally do know a lot of regular ax players who prefer mta over samp and visit it.

People have such issues with MTA for no good reason other than they are unwilling to check it out and give it a chance. I used to be like that too, but I realise it IS superior to SA-MP in every way, can't be denied. But SA-MP is our home and will probably remain to be our home, we have so much set up already here it is not worth starting from scratch on another server when SA-MP is still a very good mod and it fulfils our needs for racing, even though it could be way better... I still don't like the idea just for a DM server, it isn't really our main concern and not worth setting up another server for it for such little gain.

you should recheck
mta has build in anticheat and detects and kicks sobeit or any other modification on join.
unless you are pro hacker with custom not released cheats you cant cheat.
and ban is based on serials, so there is no evading(serials don't change even with reinstall of windows)
and in case by cheating you think too much power given to players, well, that's server, not game problem.

as a MTA scripter i say that maybe not easily, but we could set up adrenalinex in mta in a relatively short time and develop it WAY beyond possibilities of sa-mp,
but i understand that most likeley it wont happen just because of reasons firefox said...
and about the "sa-mp has more players" thing:
while it is absolutely true i can warrant you that with as orginal server as ax is we would get WAY more pepole in mta then in sa-mp.
also, other lame reasons like "i dont like the chatbox/downloading/etc" are resolvable
downloading: already there are some file streamers that silently sends the files to your client while you race, eliminating the download at beginning of map.
chatbox: just re-create it completely, very possible.

that's pretty false, you just need to optimize your scripts
remember back when i had bad pc? I had way more fps on busy mta server then on AX.(also when i played mta with R he wondered how its possible he is getting 55fps on his old laptop at fully fledged racing server with speedos etc.)
and the thing about the feeling and etc:
yes, i admit some of servers have strange ideas etc, but if we make server, nothing prevents us from making it similar to sa-mp in some aspects( heck we can even bruteforce old gtasa bugs back in)
and internet:
noone is saying we have to load 1000 custom maps and textures, that's wrong imo, but with average size of map at about 100kb and proper streamer there should be no net problems.

mta indeed has a lot of them, but i dont call them unneeded, noone forces you to use them.
for example the setHelicopterRotorSpeed is natively used in engine for sync, so why not make this function so you can have quickstart or simmilar thing to /sos with speed etc saved?

Karlis, then your problem will be the players and funding.
I doubt mooman or Rac3r wants to leave SA-MP, where they have players, to MTA, where he doesn't have much players and where they fund an empty server.
MTA player count might be rising but it might still not help AX in MTA.

a friend of mine once opened his server for a hour for us to play and like 5 play random people joined.. so players wouldnt be i problem i guess, and the name was 123 so i think more people would join a server called adrenalinex

ill try setting up and modifying current mta race engine to make it support foot races first, then we will see.

TBH I'd much rather play San Andreas. MTA isn't SA whatsoever anymore; it's just another racing sim.

MTA still has something missing that SA-MP has and is good with it..
It could be the simplicity of SA-MP, lightness, the bugs it has, it keeping the feel of GTA: SA..anything.
You have to figure stuff and work for it, while in MTA everything is done for you, you just have to find it a good use.
I don't feel like and wouldn't move anyway.
They're both great mods, but I guess having too much can hurt sometimes?

A lot of people prefer SA-MP, we've been here for 3 years and some of us played it for about a year, even before we started racing at <Ob>.
MTA has the ability to reproduce EVERYTHING that's been coded for AdrenalineX, so to worry about too many functions is a bit premature because we haven't coded a mode, if anything, having too many functions is a bonus.
Funding is an issue, ATM I doubt we would pay for another server. If a servers coded right, the players will come.
Keep us informed on your progress Karlis.

Am I the only one who have feeling that SA:MP is slowly becoming RP-aimed b#@$!&*%?
We will see in future, but it is good to be prepared for quick change (if will be needed) just in case, always should be plan B, right?

Yes, it is definitely more RP oriented, always has been. It's even advertised as a Massively Multiplayer Online game on the sa-mp homepage. And I think people should get over the fact that MTA is different, I just really hate it when people say it sucks when that's far from the truth, it's just different and not what you're used to. The thing is, you can have an MTA server that is quite basic and similar to SA-MP that doesn't use 100's of MTA's mostly useless features, but all the advantages like better sync and more friendly racing features. Anyway, I agree with max, SA-MP is full of RP noobs and it would be wise to at least have a look at what lies in the future for us. Not saying we will ever change over and we have been with SA-MP for years and it probably won't change ( in the near future ) but we might, never know! Personally I really like MTA but I don't see us changing over anytime soon. If at all.

just to inform about progress i've done so far:
1) i took the original race engine, as there's no point in rewriting ~8k lines of code if the original one is tested and proved stable for over 3years long.
2) made foot races, together with foot spawns, foot pickups, and handling finishing/ranking as passenger correctly( passenger cannot win). Of course there are some bugs yet, but not enough testing yet is made to fix them all.
3) grid system is mostly done, together with ranking.
Idea under the grid system:
If ghostmode is enabled : players in your grid is half-transparent, uncollidable, in other grids-invisible.
If ghostmode is disabled : players in your grid is fully opaque, solid, collidable, in other grids - half-transparent and uncollidable.
4) few interface tweaks, the numeric car plates, and few other little tweaks i've done just while passing by the code.
As ill manage to test and fix foot races and grids to the point none warnings/errors will be caused in a while ill try making SK/IV gamemodes, some kind of score/win streak/duel system, and most importantly - ability to exclude players from race script for, say, /tv or /freeroam.
If someone is wondering about hi-scores, traffic sensors, map management and loading, hi-score "ghosts", split times, that is done already by addons available on community.

only complain about mta sync is that laggers truly look...laggy....(fps, not net laggers)
and it should improve in one of next versions even more, with task sync replacing the key sync.

I don't want no admin status or anything like that. I would just like to see what AdrenalineX on MTA would be like and the only way to see that is to have someone with funds to pay for it!

thanks, but ill need develop the gamemode to a state in which i'm sure that i can do what i am planned to.
now second thing is how much will it be AX related. Will it be on same host, will it share database( score, stats, accounts, and even map sharing at the begining is possible then), will it have the AX name, im not the one to decide this.

It should have the same principles as our SA-MP server, meaning on foot races, allowed to get out of the car, /stunt, /tv, stuff like that. Discussing stuff like sharing database stuff is way too immature.

its all about the servers!
unfortunately like 90% servers are just gamemodes/scripts downloaded from community without anything own/special/different.
i don't browse sa-mp server browser, but i think the situation is same here in sa-mp.

1) i'm not familiar with it
2) speed blur
3) annoying pointless features
1 just needs time, 2 can be disabled and 3 is avoidable if we have our own server. so i look forward to ax on mta, sa-mp really is restricting us!

Tried it, but didn't liked it very much... it keeps downloading crappy vehicle mods every race lol.. :s I tried SKC server or something like that.. will try something else another time this week.. but totally not convinced yet.

try party racing server or smthing similar, its not really serious, but it is fun for sure, and shows many features.
scorpion: that guy did not post his technical specs, so we cant take that serious.
There was guy on forums that complained he cant play MTA any more, but we found out he had 1ghz pentium III, 32mb ram, and some 12yrs old vid card.
and the speed blur is sure very annoying, but, you can disable it in 5secods by opening race configuration panel and setting level to 0.

server should be up almost whole day, until about 21:00 gmt
i wont be online all the time, but ill check server regularly.
if you see any issues, please post them here, but don't complain, stability comes over time.

It is quite good though, it has an adrenalinex hud and you can get out of your car. and multiple modes on the way.

/stunt added
its pretty blank for now, only thing to do there is f1 menu atm(menu is not yet restricted to stunt, this helps in testing)
also, weather is synced between race and stunt, and there's a screen fade for fraction of second when new map is started(i can't track it for now, most likely caused by mapmanager).
but it works 8)
post here any bugs you find with it, and does it work well with multiple players.

last night I was on and I didn't have cps in two races.. some derby and some very weird race...

and ye, maps sucks cause that is default map pack, don't have maps to replace with for now.
ill remove the dms for now.

Joined this morning, it looks a lot like MTA Race, soon it'll hopefully look and feel like adrenalineX? Thaty's what I would like.
If the plan is to have the server set up the way adrenalinex works, I think it's best to label it as AdrenalineX. Main reason being it's becoming an AX conversion. Still too soon in development, but I juSt wanted to suggest that.

thanks, yes, the core is going towards ax gamemode.
the thing that will make it look like ax is interface(im still going to use gui/dx/better textdraws/images too ofc)
but as you know, first comes functionality, then comes looks.

I agree, getting the base done, then take care of the cosmetics.

sorry that i didn't get much done this weekend, had other things to do...
Still i made fps counter, fps showing on TAB, global /fpslimit (admins only), and fpslimit changing depending on map(boats only - 40, foot - 60, all else - 100).
Now im working on things i need to do before i can make SK and IV(real car support, not spawnpoint in map loading, and selection for weapon/vehicle in start of race).
Also, as Christmas holidays are over ill get less done, but development is going, don't worry.

lil bit of progress update:
1)made loading of vehicles from map files possible, the syntax is described here (http://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Vehicle)
NOTE: Locked, Frozen, Dimension, Interior and Plate fields currently are not supported and don't have any effect.
In addition of the rest you also can define vehicle variants (desc here (http://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Vehicle_variants)).
Seperate variant ids with comma.
2)the votes now support vehicle selection, as shown in map "smugglers_run".
3)now the checkpoint detection is way more accurate, it actually checks collisions of vehicle, not the position of vehicle to be in checkpoint.
Corner the cps with caution.
also, as always, countless small bugfixes or tweaks, while other things might get broken again :D

the ped spawn is rectangle between four spawnpoints you put in there. vehicles are standard vehicles in map editor, not spawnpoints. all else is as usual.

B - Added by mooman, everytime a player crashes, b = b + 1. Might want to ignore that for now.

I have one map, but it needs a 1-player-SK mode or something else to run that race (race starts on foot then bike, then car, but there is no place for 2 or more people). Would be good to see new AX mode.

timeconvert2(RACE_Best_Time) returns seconds form ms (you showed timeconvert(), not timeconvert2() )
RACE_Finish_Order = finish rank (in any case in one of 2 fields where its used in it has negative effect in comparison to lower finish positions?)
STATS_Players = max players? or player count online
PLAYER_Wins[playerid] = streak count (so it allows you to skip few races and still get streak? otherwise i don't see any reason for an array)

STATS_Players: Is total players racing at that time. (bit of a glitch)
PLAYER_Wins[playerid] increases if they win races in a row, otherwise it resets to 0

i've done the sk.
what to do to make sk race:
1) put spawnpoints, 1 spawn for a 1 slot in a grid(more then 20spawns results in a oneworld)
only 1st and 2nd spawn is relevant(player is spawned randomly between the two), others are just to indicate the grid size(didnt want to make dedicated setting as it would break support with default map editor.)
2) put the vehicles from default map editor defenition
3) make ur race and cps as usual, 1st cp is the start area
4)open map with notepad and remove the vehicle field in any of the spawnpoint lines.(used to detect footspawn and therefore difference between normal race and sk)

but as the start is without vehicles there's no need for the pick car long countdown, and the race is very hard, so probably i should set the race to normal mode, foot spawns are still possible, and so is vehicles in the map(respawn on cp would be enabled then). and wow, 632 objs is quite a number...

i would like to know the way you save personal best times, im quite noob at SQLite( yeah, im using sqlite, but the idea is same), and dont know what is more efficent way of saving them, one flat table with search for two values, or tables with pointers to a table, or etc. how could i make the data getting most efficient?
also, how big is AX database size, i want to figure out how much data i can save in case in a long term success.

When I was on saturday or sunday I still missed a lot.. /sos /vr /nc ? How does it work.. I couldn't do anything when I lost my car.

sos and nc are currently not accurately recreated, just press 'R', and you will respawn in last checkpoint, with your vehicle.
vr is /repair and a button in new f1 menu.
and btw im making the ax friendly commands right now
also, al these functions will have a keybind.
if you need to make a keybind out of any command, just write
/bind key state commandname arguments
key - valid key/control name, see http://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Key_names and http://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Control_names
control is particular gta function bound to any amount of keys, and key is just particular button
state - when to trigger, when button gets pressed, released, or both. valid types are 'down', 'up' and 'both'. in most cases just use up.
commandname - pretty straightforward
arguments - arguments for the specified command above
you should get info about successful/unsuccessful binds in f8 console.
to unbind keys you can use /unbind key
also, while you are connected to server you can use default binds tab in main menu/settings to manage your binds.

in mta cheating is NOT POSSIBLE(unless you abuse server script bugs, quite sure you can't)
and its updated to 1.3, i was waiting for auto-restart, but turns out i needed to restart server manually.

sorry but i have busy weekend again, cant do much, the commands will be available in start of next week.
also, i have found thing that could interest even people who are not going to use mta:
if you enable windows aero setting in mta, it'll enable on sa-mp too.
this helps me alot, minimization/starting/quitting now takes fraction of second instead of like 5seconds.
just download mta, run as admin if needed, and untick the "disable windows areo" checkbox in graphics settings.

you need windows 7 for it, as areo is windows7 feature(not sure about vista).

the problem with admins/some features requiring rights not working is that server is not allowed to save a acl(access control list), on server restart it loads one by SVN, that is made by hoster so even a complete moron owner or admin could not mess up something. Ill try adding all account rights back, but i might miss someone. Looks kind of like overpowered safety measure.

added few shader options for testing
yes, they are too bright on their own, so snow+HDR+bloom = ridiculously bright
so theres the commands to toggle them:
/snowy - toggle snow world
/snow - toggle snow falling
/snowsettings - some settings for snow, turn density down if ur lagging
/roadshine - toggle shine from sun on roads
/water - toggle water shine effect
/bloom - toggle bloom ( doesn't look that great tbh)
/contrast - toggle HDR effects ( this looks kind of cool if not so bright )
all should by off by default
also, most of these require pixel shader 2.0, but i don't know anyone who has that big toaster to not support it.

no Karlis I have no mods or s0biet or anything lmaoo, I have a few txd's and ddf's replaced, apart from that clean install ^-^ it hasn't happened again since, I just waited 12 hours or so. If I was using mods I wouldn't flash it all over a server forum now would I? haha, anyway I was on the server alone, chose some [DM] map and got disconnected for that AC error, and couldn't connect so fuck knows why. Maybe MTA hates modded gta3.img
EDIT: OH I REMEMBERRR, I was on some racing server which didn't cap FPS on DM maps so I fell on every jump so I got some frame limiter for san andreas, San Andreas Performance Tool, that MIGHT be it, since I logged straight onto AX after, mehhhhhh

After 2 weeks of lazyness, busyness, server crashes, bugs and other stuff i finally managed to get the converter working!
As an example race 4WD_WRC is in server. Now there shouldn't be any problems loading any AX map, except ones with too special features( IV, SK, car picking menu, different grids, etc are supported.)

hello there, i didn't report anything for a while, so id figured its time to tell about my progress...
1) tweaked the converter, if there are malfunctioning converted maps, then they are just out of date...
2) added functions that allow dynamic changing of car acceleration,braking,handbraking,drag and friction, useful for future scripts like gearbox and drafting
3) about halfway done the drift script
4) made textdraws and other hud components to be much less resource demanding, therefore more fps
5) edited my IVhud resource, so it can run in race. you can still return to default hud in F3 menu
