Seems lots of people just wanted to vote against the "establishment" because they're angry. Many now even regret that the vote was successful because they only voted to leave as a protest vote.

Regarding the age differences, the oldest people miss the Empire and think Britain is still a superpower, the young people mostly like immigration having grown up with it, and the middle aged group have seen cuts in public services like hospitals and were told that immigrants were to blame for this. Of course, that was a lie but they'll only realise that in a few years.

Same as last year everyone!
It will once again be world cup/champion's league style. A league/knockout tournament.
How it will work:
Group Stage
-Everyone will be randomly split into 16 groups of 5 players.
-The top players will be seeded through highscores to ensure that we don't get the 6 best players in the same group (kinda like champions league).
-Each player will 'race' every other player in the group twice. This means, with 5 in a group, everyone will race 8 times, with each tt race's times compared to one other player.
-Because of uneven numbers in each group, there will be 10 rounds and everyone will have 2 byes. I hope that makes sense for everyone.
-The winner of the TT duel will receive 3 points, the loser 0.
-For example: My first race is against mooman, and my time is 2 seconds faster, so I get 3 points. My second race is against Snoopy, and my time is 10 seconds faster, so I get 3 points. In total I now have 6 points.
-After the 8 races, the two players with the most points will progress to the next stage.
-In the event of 2 or more players at the top of the group having the same points, a bonus round will be played, where the players with the best times will progress.
I think the biggest benefit of this is that if you have a problem in one race, say a timeout or some other bad luck, you are not immediately out of the tournament. You can still win other races to get to first or second place in the group and then progress to the knockout stage.
Knockout Stage
-After the group stage, the top 2 players from each group will be randomly drawn an opponent. If you finished top, you will verse someone who finished 2nd in a different group and visa versa.
-The two players will drive a TT race, the driver with the best time progressing to the next round.

I think it was necessary to sacrifice democracy for simplicity and predictability. If I choose a different player now, I can't guarantee they would join. If I choose them on the day, people don't know what to expect. If I made some system where people submit applications and then I choose one randomly, well I wanted to just create something simple. Events are generally made for regular players because new players have a whole new server to experience anyway.

This is mainly just so old players can have a time to meet, not some excuse to load a billion shitty races (which I can (and sometimes do) do without any planning).
Why not to pick a random player as a winner (from regulars) and let him pick a race for one hour?

Added. The command is /gridcycle. It shifts the grids by 1 so the (n+1)th grid becomes the nth. So the 2nd grid becomes the 1st, 3rd becomes the 2nd... etc.. and finally the 1st loops around becomes the last. In the case of a race with 2 spawns the 2nd grid becomes the 1st and the 1st becomes the last (i.e. 2nd), so it simply swaps them.
