How many runs should each player be able to have on the track?
-
1 run is kinda gay, it's super easy to become unlucky. If the votes stay as they are now, it will be F1 style with one run again, like the 2nd (and my least-favourite) tourney.
-
Yep thats true Joe, and if it gonna be F1 Style i think it must be 2 runs anyway i voted for 2 runs ;)
-
1 run

1 run, luck is a factor anyway, you have to deal with it.

Plus, in motorsports you usually have one run, the previous runs are tests in which time doesn't count for your points, and the one for starting position.
-
In that case, maybe one practise run that doesn't count? Just 1 run was gay, one of the reasons Tourney 2 failed.
But then again, most of the people voting for 1 run weren't here for the 1st tourney. 1 run will probably win the vote because of the fact that most people never tried the old one :/
-
2 runs : or 1 if u make
-
JOE you forget the problem the 2run tourney had.. people wen't practising... They do 1 run, record it or just remember it.. then practise that whole day long and do the 2nd run.. what happens? People who practise the most are most likely to get the most points/proceed to the next round.. And then, it's all about who put the most effort in the race to win.
-
I'd say one run.
But the idea with one no scored test run is good I think.
-
The only way 2 runs would work is if the runs are done immefiately after eachother. Even then you cant really stop people practicing unless an admin spectates.
Plus you'd think people that play here would know the sa-mp map well enough to spot any 'bumps' in the first place...
-

says the one who uploads videos of bumps to youtube :L

1 run ftw
-
If multiple runs is used, the runs will be back to back without a chance for practice.
-
another good reason why two runs should be used is server crashes or timeouts. it's not nice losing your only turn and not being allowed a second chance

The problem is, people may record first run and stop before the finish... then alt-tab and watch video
-
if we can't trust people then what do we do?
-
heck u can unplug your ethernet cable and do the track over and over after you have been kicked.
many many ways to exploit it, it comes to trust.

The next run will follow right after you finish the first, there won't be time to watch a video because your 2nd run will start without you.

If you disconnect (or change mode) during a run (1st or 2nd) you won't get another run.
-
yeah like that nermal and phil_ivey crap, there was definitely something going on there
-
another good reason why two runs should be used is server crashes or timeouts. it's not nice losing your only turn and not being allowed a second chance
that doesent matter if there are two, cus if you get a timeout, then you wont be able to do your real run right?
-
well when we first had two runs before you were around we still had a chance to have second turn but if we are only going to have one turn and the server crashes or we get a timeout then we get no chances at all
because it's not hard to time yourself out and blame the server
-
If you disconnect (or change mode) during a run (1st or 2nd) you won't get another run.
i meant this, if you get a real timeout your internet cuts or even server crashes (during your 1st run) then even if there are 2 runs, you will not be able to do your real run whether its 1 or 2 tries
-

Yea well, as I said peole may STOP before the finish.
1 run
bad sides: if you timeout or server crashes, you're fucked.
2 runs
bad sides: if you timeout or server crashes, you're fucked ( during 1st run )
also you can just stop before finish and drive around or either record the race and alt tab and keep watching what to improve.... (during 1st run)
-
can't you just trust people? there's too much paranoia...
if two tries both times should count like before
-
I just dont see the points in 2 runs, even if you crash during 1st run you wont be able to try again... so there's no reason to have 2 runs lol?
-
the first tourney we had two tries and both turns were important you were not around then?
you had two tries to improve your times
-
he knows that 1st tourney had 2 tries since he was participating in it
-
i wasn't talking to you was i?
and i was saying about both times being important i never said he didn't know we had two tries
-
but something i do have a problem with is, brothers being in the tourney.. we all noticed how nermal & phil were suspected of watching each other's turns and phil never denied it, just ignored it being mentioned all the time.
so there should be a rule about two brothers being in it
-
lol why wud i watch my brother play? its already ez to win for me
-
just tell very to add rule '1 person per ip' :-X
-
lol why wud i watch my brother play? its already ez to win for me
wow you arrogant prick
-
I've never known someone so big headed as you phil lol. And if you're gonna win easy, what's the point in joining in the tournament if there is no competition for you?
-
i don't think any community likes that kind of arrogance, we knew it anyway but you just showed it completely
-
Estonians are all like that, including me
-
well yeah we knew it from you as well but still it's not very nice...
i'd rather not have phil in the tourney now if that's what he thinks :)
-
I wasnt serious when i said that lol, was in a trolling mood and knew id get a response, sorry.
-
i see you still don't deny the whole you & nermal watching each other's runs scandal ::)
-
I know that none believes me when i say that i didn't watch him do his runs so no point in arguing about it. He won't take part in 3rd tourney then if none trusts me.
-
I believe you Phil. O0
-

it's better to deny something than to ignore it. otherwise it makes people not be able to trust you and think you did do it to win
i also never said you did do it, i just thought it because you would always ignore it being mentioned
-
I've got an idea, what if we combine both times and after that make up the positions? So we got a WRC + F1 system combined..
Example:
I do two runs, my first run ends in 1.30 minutes and the seconds in 1.20 minutes.
Person X makes two runs too, he gets 1.40 minutes in the first run and 1.15 in the second run.
Combined I get 2.50 minutes and person X gets 2.55 minutes. I finish first and person X finishes 2nd. I'd get 25 F1 points for that and person X gets 18 points.
GOOD IDEA?

no...
-
And if you don't set a time you get the average time of all racers as 2nd time?? Just thinking aloud.
-
no...
Thx for your arguments!
-
i don't think arrogance and sarcasm can get any lower from those two
btw it's an okish idea i think

good luck keeping that kind of attitude going with me :)

You're the one who called me arrogant for not liking an idea.
But sure I could explain why I don't like it if it makes you feel better...
First of all, if by any chance 2 runs would actually win the vote and we would be using Ush's idea the best racer wouldn't win, probably the one who drives slowest and avoid crashes...
Like me, ( and alot of others aswell ) try to drive as fast as possible the first run and probably crashes a few times will get a shit time combined with a decent time on your 2nd try when you take it easy...
-
Well there is actually always a possibility that someone could be cheating. Player A does his run, records it with fraps and sends to player B and player B learns the track like that.
-
good luck keeping that kind of attitude going with me :)

phil is the arrogant one and you were the sarcastic one because of your sarcastic comment towards ush. i would have thought you'd know the difference between arrogance and sarcasm.
-
Ush I don't think that will work. Having 2 runs in the first tourney was so you had a joker to play, so that if you messed one up, you had the other spare.
The way I see it, this one will only work 2 ways:
- 1 run in an F1 style format - no need for a backup as you can make up for your mistake next race
- 2 runs in a knockout style - if you make a mistake you have 1 more chance. 2 mistakes you're out
everyone agree?
-
yep fine with me
-
aint F1 having any practise/quallify?
if no, then why calling it 'F1' ?
-

because of the point system i guess
you dont get any points in knockout
-
F1 Point System:
1st place 25 points
2nd place 18 points
3rd place 15 points
4th place 12 points
5th place 10 points
6th place 8 points
7th place 6 points
8th place 4 points
9th place 2 points
10th place 1 point
here a video I found about Estonian :L

Option 1 is the best imo.

Yeah, go with the votes. So F1 style and one run. :D

i voted 2 run

WHY FINLAND POLICE FUCK ESTONIA?

WHY GREECE STOLE MY MONEY?

erm i don't really want to restart the argument although i probably will but i only just got around to reading this thread and would it not be easier just to make it a rule that when there are two people living together in the tourney the more skilful one does their race first? i'm not accusing ivey of anything because it's all just speculation but the reason anyone's even accusing him of watching nermal was nermal always doing his run before phil did his. if it was the other way around then no one could really complain.

i thought it made sense :blank:

it did

who record it for me, then send it to me, I practise and I win? C'MON?
