Note: I've merged every thread that was in the "1st Annual [UK] AdrenalineX Racer's Tournament" forum (group subforums not included) into this big thread. A lot of it probably won't make sense but it's good to have it for archive purposes)

Hey guys,
Was thinking hard last night and this idea popped into my head.
I've talked to a few sampers and they all think its a great idea
Basically, it is a tournament for racer's to compete in. It will involve 64 racer's, in a Football World Cup style layout,
starting with a group stage and progressing to a knockout round to determine the winner ;D
I have all the details written down and if everyone is interested (hopefully everyone is) I will post the details and then continue
to determine the racers competing, dates, times and the rest of the details.
Hope everyone can get involed and by the title name, it can be a yearly thing ;D
EDIT: Turns out the servers birthday is in March. We can celebrate it with this tourney ;D

One thing i remember is that UK's birthday is on the 27th of March, so it could start then, or if people aren't available then, we can sort out another date.

Ok these are the details as i have written down:
Selection
The top 16 drivers according to the sites highscores will be given a seeding (1-16).
Each of these 16 drivers will go into a seperate group (A to P). Each group will contain 4 racers.
Since there must be 64 racers, the other 48 will be chosen by whoever wants to get involved,
most likely, whoever posts first.
When everyone has been confirmed for the tournament i will post the groups on the forum
or make a youtube video if you guys want to make sure I'm not cheating ;)
Races
The races will be of 2 to 4 minutes in length. We must pick 100 or more of these races, to make sure they are not overplayed.
Since a lot of races aren't up to par, we could make new ones for this tournament.
I suggest we only use a small range or cars from the Street or Sports car categories and maybe the NRG.
The matches will be a best of 5 situation in a direct head to head. Races will therefore be won at
3-0, 4-1, 5-2, 5-3 and 5-4.
Races chosen for the tournament will be chosen at random for each match.
If you timeout, it is your bad luck...It's a measure to stop cheating.
That's also why it's best of 5 ;)
Groups
The groups will range from A to P, with 4 people in each like i explained before.
Each racer will play every other racer in their group once.
3 points will be awarded the winner of a match and 0 to the loser.
If however the loser gets the match to 5-3 or 5-4, they will get 1 point.
As well as the final result, the score of each race will be recorded so that
in the case of 2 racers finishing on level points, a race difference (like goal difference
in football) will be determined (races won minus races lost).
The top 2 drivers from each group will advance to the knockout stage.

Knockout
After the group stage, the 2 drivers from each group will be randomly
picked to verse another racer (not drivers from the same group will be matched up against
eachother). The same rules apply as in the group stages,
best of 5 races.

Complaints
If a driver or spectator beleives there was unsportmanlike behaviour during a race
(ramming, cheating etc.), a post can be made in the relative matchup's forum. Singificant
proof/evidence must be shown. Should a player have lost unfairly, there will be a best of 3
race rematch (scores from both matches will count in the group stages). Conduct deemed
bad enough will result in a disqualification. Incidents deemed normal racing incidents will
not be considered.
Other
I suggested to mooman that he make a section of the forum for the tournament, with a
section in that for each group. Posts for each matchup will be made to discuss times for
that match-up and anything else relevant to it.

That just show you who play most on server nothing more.Plus most of people have 2 or 3 account on top 100...
Isnt same when you have pressure to win and when you driving just for fun.

Top 8 seeds will recieve auto-entry, so all we need is confirmation.
The highscores of the 25th of Feb will be used to determine the seeds.
If someone in the top 16 can't make it, then the next person down will
get seeded.

Haha cool that's my birthday too!! I get 20 that day :D :D
And uhm... yes good date off course... but how late we start... cause we have racers from all over the world... like, you can't make sure everyone is there at he particular moment.. 27th of march is a long way to go... but we need that to make sure as many of us can make it! *I hope nothing gets in the way at that day* ^^

2 things you didn't thought about yet are:
POINT 1:
I was thinking and... how are the races set up? I mean, is everyone racing at the same time? Or are the races 1 by 1... (that would take to much time in my eyes).
I think it's the best to make each group (of 4 members) race against eachother at the same time... so we have 2 races at 1 time, 1 vs. 1.. when everyone races against everyone we have winner and loser of the group.. Or maybe we can do it with 2 groups(1 from the left and 1 from the right part of your schedule). Or every group at the same time? (at that point we don't have any admins to watch people if cheating, but I think people won't cheat cause we use honoust players that play weekly..)
I think it's oke to make some extra races... but the one who makes the races would have an advantage... So: or let people train at the chosen races a week before the tournament starts... or make someone make races who doesn't participate in them himself...(I wonder who wanna do that xD)
POINT 2:
Oh and btw, we also need to fill up the groups... how we gonna do that? Like a grand slam in tennis? With 16 or 32 best-racers, divided over the 16 groups.... so we have 2 nominated people... or 1.... (depends if we make 32 or 16 nominees) and put each of them in 1 group, other racers get in groups by random... Or maybe that's not fair enough and we need to make "groups" like the UEFA -CUP group-fase... That will be like: the best 16 racers(nr. 1-16) in group 1, but they can't get in the same group. Then we have 16 racers(nr. 17-32) in group 2.. and the next 16 racers(nr. 33-48) in group 3 and the last 16 racers..(nr49-64) in group 4.
THen we put everyone from group 1 in each group.... Then we put everyone from group 2 in a group... Then everyone from group 3 and at last everyone from group4.. In this case we have honoust groups... So we don't get a group like: Ush, Andy, devil, Michal... or something.. cuz we would lose 2 great racers cause the group mechanism doesn't work well... and 2 other noobs racers in a more noob group get in the KO fase...
Oh, we should make list of the HS-list today so we make sure everyone who participates gets in the right group... and people not on the list can also participate... but they need to be lucky people in the HS-list don't wanna participate or can't participate..
I think my idea of the "UEFA-CUP" system is quiet good.. the "grandslam" tennis idea is ok, but not perfect...

1. Once the groups are sorted, moo or I will make a section within this one for each group and I'll make a post concerning
each match up. There we will discuss times suitable so that both drivers can make it. We'll try to make each group finish their first
match up before the second starts. Maybe a few groups doing completing their first match ups per day.
2. This is what the 16 seeds are for. Each of the top 16 will go into one of the 16 groups (labelled A to P) on their own. Then, the
rest of the competitors will be placed randomly to fill the groups.

Due to the lack of regular players, I've decided that the tournament will involve on 32 players (a bit optimistic of me :D)
Anyway, that said, there will be 8 groups rather than 16 and that will also result in only 8 seeded players.
If however 36 new players sign up I'll change back to 64 ::) ;D

Once we have all the players confirmed and sort out the groups, we can sort out the dates and times.

Ok guys i looked back at my seeds list and figured out that i forgot to put snikeris in there, so I've fixed it up now. No big changes really.
Basically we just need Richard_Burns to confirm.
If he can't play, then GhostRid3r will become the 8th seed and we'll need 1 more unseeded player to join.

I'd like people to suggest races they'd like to see used for the tourney.
There need to be at least 100, so that we don't encounter the same ones
over and over again ;)
Only cars from the Street or Sports categories should be used (preferably

We need to think about the next:
Duel racing? Or TimeTrial racing? Both have some advantages and disadvantages...
Btw, Maybe you should keep the official race list secret... or else people gonna start testing at it...

I suggest using the Champions League format, 8 groups, 2 winners of each group go through. So the last 16 is a quarter final knockout. Then obviously semi finals, then the final.

Maybe for the 1st stage (group stage), each group could decide on their own match schedule, provided that the tourney officials keep it moderated.
Because I think getting 32 schedules to agree with one date seems tight. :-\

I organised the tourney...I've talked to Rac3r and it was up to him to do the server side stuff.
The races are head to head, first to 3, as I've written in the tourney info thread.
From our talks it was going to be something like a duel mode, much like the one already on the server, that both drivers will enter.
Results will be recorded by the server AFAIK, but I'm sure you guys will be eagre to post your results here :)

Look guys. Vertigo spent a lot of his time to prepare this tournament. Rac3r spent also a lot of time trying to code this, he didn't do it, but he wanted to, and make some effort like Vertigo. Why are u all leaving ? All u need to do is waiting. This job made by them cant be wasted, and it's all only for fun :/

If R can't get anywhere with the script I can suggest a different way of running the tournament...
We can all do time trials and simply, the bottom however number of people get eliminated at the end of that round.
Of course we have to make a certain number of new races, ones that people can't practise on beforehand.
This is much easier to run, a much easier script to make and with admins on all the time, people can do their runs whenever and the admin can just post the times on the forum.
The race maker will have to be someone that won't participate in the tournament of course..

I've already told you guys...I have done my part, check the rules i set out all the details and all the groups i selected (randomly). If R can't do the script then that isn't my problem.
I have huge respect for R for all the work he's put into the server and this is the first time I've ever heard him say that it's too much.
All I can suggest is a different format for the tournament:
Time trials. 8 Races where the 4 slowest drivers in each are elminated or something along those lines.
Easy to code ( I imagine ??? ) and if everyone agrees I can plan that I guess.
