this isn't official or anything, so the poll results won't necessarily have an impact on what happens but i think it's good to get everyone's opinion on the matter

Suggestions / RE: Streaks
« on: June 19, 2014, 06:11:11 pm »
i think the playercount for streaks should be done at the start of the race rather than at the end because often the races will start with 10+ players but by the end of the race, people enter /tv or /tt or w/e, it just makes more sense to do the count at the start.

also maybe have it so streaks can go on with fewer than 10 players if you get a top1 - 10.

General Server Discussion / advice to players who are new to superjames
« on: December 09, 2013, 04:18:35 am »
ignore anything superjames says, he is a troll and always will be. he makes countless people angry at him and i don't know why so many people bother to put so much of their effort into expressing their anger for him. he won't change for anyone and luckily he keeps his disruptive behaviour in group chat (most of the time) so there's no point trying to change him. the best thing to do is just ignore him or get on board with his sense of humour.

P.S: i personally like james and find him funny but i know that for some people he can be a lot to take, lol. he is pretty much fastcake 2.0 (no offence cake or james ilu <3)

Help & Resources / How to drive fast
« on: October 01, 2013, 02:31:58 pm »
Well, I get asked this question a lot, so I decided I'd actually answer it properly for once.

Understanding of the racing line is probably the most important thing to making you faster, so here are 3 videos (part A, B and C) to explain it to you guys.

Obviously these videos are for real drivers, but the skills are transferable.

Protip time:

Tip #1 - If you use handbrake, only use it in relatively grippy cars and never hold it down 'cause you will just lose time if you hold it. You should be using it to kinda guide the car to the right apex, if that makes sense. When using handbrake, make sure the car isn't sliding, if you release W after using handbrake, and continue to turn (with W released) it will turn the car at a sharper angle until you press W again to grip it again. In the infernus you can release W for as long as you want while sliding as it has a ton of grip so when you push W down again it will grip up with no drama, however in less grippy cars, there's less room for error so just use your best judgement for how long to release it and if it's even worth doing in the first place.

Tip #2 - You don't have to cut every single corner to make a top1, I sometimes see people trying to cut absolutely everything and it's just not worth it and it isn't always the fastest way around. If the cut means you have to travel slowly through it to not fail, don't use that cut, only use it if you can travel through it quickly.

Tip #3 - Slower is sometimes faster. In S bends, it is better to go slightly slower through the first corner of the S bend so that you can come out of the second corner onto the straight with more speed.

Tip #4 - It's all about da exit speed. There's no point speeding into a corner if you have to slow down on the exit to avoid crashing into a wall. You should be trying to get the right speed before the corner so you can speed out the corner to the track-out point (explained in those videos I think), which in SA:MP, the track-out would either be a lamppost or a wall generally. Again with the S bends, you shouldn't be driving to track-out in the first corner of an S bend, you should be trying to set yourself up for the perfect exit of the final corner so you can speed to your track-out point.

Tip #5 - Remember your fails. I categorize my fails into knowledge fails and execution fails. Knowledge fails are basically if you didn't know there was a lamp behind the corner, these are the fails to remember. Execution fails are basically if you just fuck up, they can't really be stopped by anything other than getting better over time.

Tip #6 - Don't try too hard. When I'm driving I'm not constantly trying to think about this stuff, it just kinda comes naturally for me because I kinda subconsciously know it I guess. It's actually harder for me to explain what I do than for me to actually do it lol, some thought has gone into this thread so I hope you slownabs appreciate it <3.

Making this thread made me realise how much of a racing geek I am lol. Before you worry about me being some major nerd, I would like you all to know that this is the stuff I subconsciously know, I don't study it or anything crazy like that, I kinda just became conscious of my subconscious to try to explain it the best I can.

I hope this helps, now stop asking me how to drive fast.

Farewell all.

best songs were 21:40, 33:42, 38:09, 41:45, 46:18, and 49:10, but only really 'cause the reading crowd were only going nuts for the songs they knew, which were those, but it was insane even for the songs the majority didn't know.

Suggestions / suggestion for lapped races
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:10:23 pm »
in lapped races, people who get lapped should be merged into a world with only those who are on the same lap as them as it's pretty annoying when you're in first and someone is driving a bit stupidly and blocks you.

i think the races should start how they do now, but as soon as you enter lap 2, you will be merged into a lap 2 world, so those in lap 1 can't bother you any more and when you go in lap 3, you will be merged into lap 3 world and so on.

if the race has 4 cars per world, when you enter lap 2, you won't be merged with everyone, you will only be merged with those in your group (once they have entered lap 2 that is).

i don't really think you can say "well it's just racing that is what you have to deal with sometimes" because  this is samp and chances are, the people you lap aren't regulars and will try to block you deliberately.

Suggestions / /ramwarn
« on: July 28, 2013, 02:38:48 pm »
I think a /ramwarn command should be created, and basically, an admin types /ramwarn id, and it gives them a warning for ramming. eg "mute has received a ram warning (1/5)" the warning will automatically send me to jail for 60 seconds and should i reach 5 ram warnings, i will be temp banned for a week.

you could also have it so if a player reaches 5 warnings on more than one occasion, the length of time they're banned for increases by a week each time.

the reason i'm suggesting this is because there is no real punishment for frequent rammers.

Suggestions / Best lap (/bltop10)
« on: March 25, 2013, 11:46:33 pm »
Add a 'best lap' feature to lapped races and if you wanna go one up on that then add a best lap top10 feature (shows the top 10 laps) that can be accessed by using /bltop10.

That is all.
