Title: Laptop.
Post by: [2F2F]SNiKeRiS on July 28, 2012, 10:20:28 pm
Hi, I'm looking for a laptop to buy. The price should go from 400 to 500 euros. I'm not looking for a gaming pc, just for minimal gaming experience (obviously enough to run samp and some newer games on at least minimal settings). Laptop should have at least 500gb HDD.

As far as I know the best ones are DELL and Asus.

I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice choosing a laptop  :)

In that range you have no much option cause all models are stuck with on-board video card.
There come 4-8gb ram,320-500gb hard drive and pre-installed Windows or not,AMD vs Intel....
My suggestion goes on Intel i3 platform and major thing look for as much as longer warranty.
That is most important cause no matter what model you pick, all comes with poor quality of cover plastic and keyboard also overheating is well known problem in that range.

i got my laptop with dual core turion II 2.4ghz and HD5650 1GB, 3gb ram(cheaply upgradable) and 500gb hdd, ~550$, but over year ago, may be cheaper now.
sure, the cpu is much slower than a i3, but dedicated vid card can run casual games very well and im even able to play most of new games.
overheating is bit of a problem indeed, it often runs hot, but with bit of a effort ( undervolt + additional cooler ) you can get it cold enough, and it has never crashed due to overheat or anything.
not sure is there deals like that in other countries, but search for Acer 5552G.

Ok, so I've come up with this Acer. Looks pretty decent for my needs. Specs are in lithuanian, but it shouldn't be a problem to read them. Tell me what you think  :)

looks decent to me, cpu will be hugely bottlenecked by weak gpu in games, but it can still run many.
take a look at fps for various games: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-610M.63759.0.html

note that if this fps seems too small you might turn res down and maybe even play demanding stuff like IV on 800x600.
