Step 1. (Mapping)
Download MTA Race 1.1
- Link http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/Multi_Theft_Auto_San_Andreas_V111;82673
- [Vista + Windows 7 Users]
You have to delete or rename a file located inside the MTA main folder.
Example C:\Program Files\MTA San Andreas\mods\race\Client.dll - [MTA Tutorial]
GamerX have an excellent tutorial to help you learn the keys to control the GTA elements.

Step 2. (Converting)
The two map types we use are static maps and dynamic maps.
- Static Maps : Always enabled on server.
Convert http://www.convertffs.com/ - Dynamic Maps : Active only on your uploaded race/map.

Step 3. (Uploading)
To upload your maps, simply reply here with a post. Clicked Adavanced options while adding to your post and click Attach.

Here's the .map file for the touge track I made.
I couldn't have the cars be Elegy's and Euros' at the same time, was hoping you could help me with that Rac3r.

Also, there's a section with a hole that I couldn't get the objects to load during the race.
It's right after a bridge, that goes downhill into a right corner.
I have the object that I wanted to fill the hole with. A small mound of grass is already filling part of it, but it won't load during a race.
Check it out, see what you think.

Yo Burns. I have some bad news, my .map loader for MTA had a few problems and crashed my client. I'll check the file to see if there's any bad data in the file.
EDIT: Hmm, checkpoints, spawns and race info (weather, time) are fine but an object must be bugged.
400+ object wow, I am looking forward to it, just need to work out why it keep crashing. 8)

I was working on a huge German-rally esque map, but I'm wondering if it's going to be worth the 7-8 plus hours put into it.
I don't want it to auto-fail because of some glitch.
Rac3r, what is your advice?

This is script to allow you to load your MTA .map files into SA-MP. Even though it's the same game, both modifications (SA-MP and MTA) handle the objects better/worse depending on different events happening (server activity).
I've added 4 maps to give you an idea where everything goes. Check the .pwn file if you're still not sure.
Basically place your.maps into the folder named MAPS.
- Extract to a created server folder.
- Run the Pawno coding application, open the MTAv1.pwn and press F5 to compile.
- Run the SA-MP server application. samp-server.exe
- Type 'convert' into the rcon panel. This will load and convert the maps
- You can type 'maps' into the rcon panel to display the map list.
- Join your hosted server 127.0.0.1:7777
- Type '/load [mapname]'. Map Name is obviously your created map that you placed in the MAPS folder.
- The server will load the map and give you the race vehicle for the race.

This ought to be perfect for testing maps. Finally I can tell if they're going to crash or not.
Well Rac3r, let's say I do make an MTA race that makes the server crash, what then? How do I tell what's causing the crash.

All I can think of is Trial & Error.
Check the converted .map file in the SAMP folder and removed X ammount of objects. Test The map, if still crashes, remove X more objects, but put back the ones you removed.
This could narror it down to what objects are causing the crash.
For future builds though, try to make the base of the track first.
- 1st : Roads
- 2nd : Blocks (Fences, Blackades, Barriers)
- 3rd : Realism Extras (Lights, Flowers)
Then after each stage of devlopment, test them. Test roads, test roads+Blocks, test roads+blocks+extras.

The Flood is awesome mapping skills, but let down by a few bad checkpoints, have a look for yourself.

idk i just saw videos with scandinavian flick(also there is a lesson in RBR rally game ,old memories made me create this race), looks cool(fastest way to pass 90 degrees turn), and maybe nice race to catch cheaters

After a checkpoint (35 i think) the roads do not appear. GTA bug.
Suggestion, try lowering the map. It might fix it. I will have and reply back.

I just finished a new track (FormulaTrackDay). Around 300 objects, but all of them have a purpose. I've tried to make an environment where you start on an enclosed race grid, exit to the city and then loop back on yourself to reach the industrial areas. I have kept checkpoints to a minimum so the best drivers can follow their own lines (apologies for my driving...I'm not exactly the Stig). I think 4 laps will suffice.

Do you think it should be an all one world race or a normal world race? The track is quite wide and has a long straight part so could theoretically fit 40 people in the starting grid.

Hello guys, i send a map with a circuit race in SF. The map is basically a way surrounded by barriers throughout SF. The barriers begin and end at the same point. It's possible make a race at least 6 minutes.
The map is already converted to the streamer Y_Objects, because it was used on a server that no longer exists.

Still I'm sure it's easier and better to do it with the looping object, but I didn't have that idea at the time (and would need a teleport command).
edit:ok i've just done a small one, simpler and closed. Can still do another one quickly, bigger but still smaller than the first one if that's too small.
2nd edit: ok, i'm sure the second one is too small, and anyway making it is about 5 to 10minutes so... i did the medium size.

Aww. One problem we've got is spawning players on streamed objects, there's a small chance they could fall through the floor. If first joining, then falling through floor could be a put off.
Till we find a solution, I won't spawn players on the streamed objects in Lobby.

Good for them, problem with normal races is they have all been done before. Most /newraces now seem so samey to the other races we have. I won't accept the same stuff.
Maps though change everything imo. More mappers ftw.

Above is a great app, it converts MTA .map files to AX format map races. Also lets you pick GTAIV, grid type and some other stuff.
Have a look at it, if you can't get it going I'll convert for you. It's best though you convert, to get the special features the way you want.

Yo larry, skunk is right about the objects limit of 255, if you zoom out (keep going higher), then zoom in, the stream should be ok for the area you are viewing.
That's the problem with big maps (hundreds of objects), the MTA Race Editor just can't handle it.
Maybe try the new MTA DM Editor? Harder and slightly slower, but can handle loads more objects and to be honest, the menus are a lot better too.
