ok so as someone of you may already know, we have new version of /F
your vehicle must be non-moving to flip your vehicle, which doesnt sound that bad in theory, but when you start to race you'll see how bad madmax's idea is. i see it like hardcore mode but you can repair your vehicle..
so i opened this topic to disscus about this bad thing which has come to ax to ruin our lives.
i added a pool too so you can vote for /F you would like to see on the server running
(NOTE:go to the server before voting and try new /F, drive couple of races so you can see how much it sucks)

actually speed doesn't have to be 0, just below a certain amount. maybe we can test with higher limits before getting rid of the idea totally because people are using it as a brake and that is not what it was made for

kinda agree with you, but why would we change it after years of using it? i've seen flip command on some other servers and car doesnt even stop when you use flip command lol, no speed loss at all.

to be honest i don't see anything wrong about using it as a brake, because full stop to 0 speed always gives time penalty in comparison to normal turn/etc.
only thing where the brake could be useful is when you fly, you could quickly type /f and save yourself few meters to go back or even get on something you would potentially miss without it. in either of those cases you already at least lost a position or 2.
also old /f is a must in stuntmode w/ speed.
maybe buildmode should have an option to disable the braking?

You know I read this thread before testing the new /F out and I was thinking to myself oh god why fix something that ain't broken then I was about to go on a rant and say why change one of the ideas that I made happen. Then I went to test /F out and it is a brilliant idea.

i bumped on one of those SF downhills and my car flipped in the air, but i couldnt do flip because of high speed. i dont know why you changed it, it wasnt abused a lot

this is the OLD /F that we used to have before someone posted video about abusing it in landing jumpss (2008 and so)
then after someone posted a videeo about ppl abusing /f to land perfectly
we had a discussion and figured out to stop ppl abuse /f to land, make it stop car
but now agian flips is like old days, but to totally stop abusing, it is limited
can't be abused to land perfectly after jump
and can't be abused as instant brake

We had the /flip that doesn't decrease car speed before the "old" one... and we had the old one before that too, so I wouldn't say its history is any reason to keep it.
I can see how the new /f might be shit, but a skilled racer wouldn't need it anyway so if we can prevent bug abuse by changing it, then why not? Of course, I'd have to actually try it out on the server first...

Imagine you're going downhill chilliad and you suddently turn over your car by a bump or sth and you're going towards the edge of the road. Usually yo'd just use /f to avoid falling off, but now...

yeah but sos brings you 5 seconds back and sometimes you may spawn on a bad place.. oh well we will just have to get used to new/old flip i guess

I also had that idea. Think I told it on server not sure tho :L But @ agus, /f still stops you.. so that would make your argument invalid I guess.
But problem is.. 2 wheels can be a pain as well (sometimes you end up like that), would it register you as 'upside' down?
Or we maybe just have to live with this.. I'm not sure how bad this change is, or how good. I had no problems with the 'old' /f (I barely ever hit someone who uses it).

Just add 1,5 sec freeze to it and keep it the way it is.. Speed calculation wont give us exacly what we want. Instead will bring more lags to the server.

another good idea
make back /flip that stops you, but
when you do /f your car is repaired instantly, but gets flipped after random time varing from 3 to 5 seconds
so if you do /f just at the edge of cliff, you won't be able to abuse it as instant brake
also random time (from 3 to 5 seconds) will make you not able to predict when to do /f to use it as brake

the old flip is wayyy better and safer when it comes to one world, i mean once you'r flipped on high speed you might crash into others and ruin their racing .... i suggest bring back the old /F :police:

suddenly i caught some bump and the car was going to turn over...
BUT it kept going thus sliding sideways over the surface with good speed quite long...
i couldn't use /f at that moment...
the car wasn't able to turn over or level off on wheels at all and i ended up floating in the ocean
just an example, missed a good race

The old flip was better because it was more fun and you can control your car more. If the flip was changed simply because people were abusing it then why not add 'xx' amount of time to it before it can be used again? or better yet, limit the flip command to 3 times per race if possible?
It's better to have what I said than one crash potentially destroying your whole race especially if a race is like 10~15minutes long. What's the point of adding a speed limit of 50mph'ish to it when you car is traveling at like 100mph 90% of the time? It might as well be disabled unless you enjoy the view of your vehicle sliding on its roof to a near complete halt.

-make a random seconds delay (needs to check how long car can survive before exploding)

any ideas welcome:
bring back old flip, that stops you, but give few random seconds delay between stopping, like this:
1.player flips and types /f
2.player gets info that car will be flipped in X seconds, meanwhile his car gets repaired, but not flipped/stopped yet
3.after X seconds, car flips/stops
cant be predicted as instant brake, coz X seconds can be variing from lets say 3 to 5 or so, cant be abused in perfect landing, and no need speedlimit

- Randomly chooses to flip to the left or right
- Reduces speed by a lot but does not stop
- Is not completely reliable (somewhat by design)

Why you not simple disable /F instead of making things worse and worse.
I can understand that you trying cut of shit where kids abuse /F but cmon does this really help to server.
I have spend like 30 minutes to figure out when and where is good moment to use /flip command and to be honest i am still far to understand how things going.
Often i see '[ERROR] You must wait 2 seconds to flip again, repairing instead' that remind me on /SOS,command both actually do nothing to help you repair/fix car or even make things worse than without it.So am quiet surprised what would happen if we have no those commands on list....

actual flip is shit
my car was upside down and still rolling so i used /flip but it didnt stop my car so i typed /flip again and i got message that i can use /flip later, wtf?!
i had to exit car and click tab!
Previous /flip was better!!

So if we want to stop people from using it just as an instant brake, maybe what we could do is:
- old /F possible only at low speeds, and also only possible when you're actually not flipped (like now with the new /F).
And on high speeds, keep the new /F. There should be a possibility to make it switch from old /F to new /F according to the speed, right?
Because the new /F is not very useful, no offence to the scripters, you're doing a great job.

how its not useful? it flips you most of times, and if you steer a little to help it (YES, steering does make center of car mass go sideways) it will always work.
