AMD processor and Acer brand i would pass without doubt. Put some more effort into your search, there should be some Lenovo or Asus by same 'special price' they are often in shops now days. Especially models with I3 processors and Nvidia 820 video cards what i recommend in premium class (400-450 euro, no Windows 8.1 pre-installed)

If you need laptop for work you need stable and decent premium class processor at least Pentium Quad Core or why not  i3 and that is not cheap. Around world most prices are same and they start with 300 euro + if we look trough calculator that looks much more than yours 400 AUS(258 euro)

SSD drive you can't find in that range, go for 500 euro+ and you will see brands as Acer, Compaq, Fujitsu and to be honest they aren't your target.

HP has good quality,Asus currently has best prices for their products, Lenovo is close to them. Toshiba and Sony sell their products mostly cause of their good reputation in past. My favorite is Dell in premium segment but that also cost little more than others - one year longer warranty included.

Seems i didn't wrote much useful post with lot of details as i often do. But if you going buy good laptop you should prepare much more cash than you currently own.

About single vs dual channel memory:

synthetic benchmarks can sometimes show 30%, even 80% differences between the different configurations... but real-world testing could be 3-5%

Help & Resources / Re: Unstable fps on HD 4650
« on: September 26, 2014, 11:22:24 pm »
ATI 5450 was/is(back to 2010) low budget video card which means 3D games aren't target of that model.

No matter size of memory set 512MB, 1GB or even 2GB bus type is only 64 bit what make most games unplayable , even videos on youtube lags if you try play them with HD settings.

SA isn't running good on older ATi graphics cards.

My HD 5450 should be able to get 90-100 FPS all the time, but it drops down to nearly unplayable once the smoke effects comes in.

My older GeForce 8400 GS is able to get such FPS.

If we talking about previous series of ATI, for sure you couldn't expect good FPS in class of 9200SE/9250 what were released in time of game, but 9600XT/9800PRO gave decent FPS.

Seriously i have no idea why all bother to play online game with hardware old 5 or more years, and whose price is 30-40 euros in total(PC) while you pay internet like half of that every month... to even browse this forum

Bottle of Coke and pizza cost you 5 euro every day

Off-Topic / Re: Question about Windows and Linux
« on: September 24, 2014, 09:32:17 pm »
You cant install Windows and Linux on same partition due table difference (by default)
Linux often ask for ext3/4 and windows7/8 for ntfs

So you should prepare patitions back up/format etc (two or more) before you even try install both system

edit:

If you need Linux only for internet you can try some live Ubunty(DVD)

If you buying laptop with pre-installed Windows 7/8 AMD doesn't look bad at all. But if laptop comes with Ubuntu(Linux) or without any i would pass that offer.

Often machines with APU integration makes a lot problems to end users when they are about to install drivers, also boot time and speed in general looks crap. Many customers comes with question what they are did bad cause machine doesn't work proper with 2/4 cores processor and 4GB(or more) of ram memory...

With Intel models never heard any even with Celeron models.

i3-3110M is faster than N3510 but also battery life is shorter.

If you looking performance i3 is better, if you need 3 or more hours usage without charging of battery N3510 is what you need.

Take look about warranty period on Dell's model it should be 3 years instead of 2 what gives Acer. Both models are similar if we look through hardware so i would go with one what has longer warranty ;)

Sounds bizarre...but not all people are capable to change even bulb, some don't care or they have no time for that so they contact people who could do that for them.

Can of compressed air not cost much but are you sure it will 100% solve his problems???
What if fan is damaged or doesn't reach enough RPM after you simple remove dust as you suggest?

Maybe you didn't noticed yet after 6 years here, when is matter about PC hardware i am trying to always give correct answer. Over 10 years of experience with hardware i have so i am pretty sure i wouldn't ever suggest someone something silly as you guys wrote above.

Some companies around world put sticker on their desktops if you buying tested and pre-installed system so customers are unable to open case if they want use warranty paper. Similar restriction is with hard-drives video cards etc.  In this case we clearly see that Bootsyou didn't build his PC from ground with his screwdriver and similar tools by asking us for help.

I know what i am talking about hardware, so Boots contact service or shop where you bought PC, 20-30 euros isn't big money but it will solve your problems. And for sure spare from headache...
