Help & Resources / New rules regarding /fpslimit usage
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:04:39 pm »
Hello, after recent controversy about the legitimacy of using /fpslimit continuously to gain advantage over other players instead of using actual driving skill, we decided that some new rules are needed.

What is not allowed?
You are not allowed to change /fpslimit in middle of the race, only in the beginning. It doesn't matter do you use a keybinder, a macro button or keyboard + joystick combo.
  • this applies to /race and /tt modes.
  • changing vehicle while in a SK/MTA race is an exception, and it is allowed to change limit in that moment.

Why it isn't allowed?
  • it doesn't require racing skill, but rather skill about abusing the game engine bugs.
  • for the most of people it is rather uncomfortable to switch to FPS below 30.
  • some videocards and their drivers support fps limit quite badly and makes people lag more than it should.
  • it requires peripherals and/or software that is not owned by everyone.

What is the punishment?
  • for anyone caught doing this his record/time will be deleted.
  • after being caught 3 times all highscores will be reset.
  • if one does set a time which is impossible to set without breaking the rules, we reserve the right to still ban for it, if we're in doubt did one use cheats or this exploit.

For anyone using this exploit, consider revising your tactics!

Off-Topic / Google's robot cars pass driving test
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:13:14 pm »

Quote
Google's autonomous cars have passed their first driving test in Nevada, which included a trip along the famous Las Vegas Strip.

The desert state is the first to grant the vehicles a licence to use public roads. They are controlled by computers processing a combination of mapping data, radar, laser sensors and video feeds.
Officials from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles rode in the cars "along freeways, state highways and neighborhoods both in Carson City and the busy Las Vegas Strip", they said in a statement.
It comes after Nevada passed laws to create a new type of licence for autonomous vehicles last year, which came into effect on 1 March.
The autonomous cars, based on Toyota Prius hybrid hatchbacks, will now be allowed on public roads for further development and testing, carrying a distinctive red licence plate with an infinity symbol on the left side.

Suggestions / slight tweak of speedboost fuction
« on: April 01, 2011, 06:53:58 pm »
currently, speedboost is just making velocity stronger, therfore making car loose any grip and travel even with sides, but imo
it should be changed that way velocity is strengthened AND velocity vector is slightly rotated towards rotation vector of car(no vectors should not match exactly, or it would get boring), to make turns bit more possible with such crazy velocity.
it would open up possibilities for a very very fast drift and "ride as fast as you can handle" races.
