it's just where other people place the 2nd grid.... I know some of my races have 2nd style grid.. (thug4life I think has).

Hmm.

The position is calculated from what players save in buildmode. Grid 1, compared to Grid 2.

I suppose I could show a checkpoint where Grid 2 should be to help builders, otherthan that, blame the builders :P

I'm sure that in the tutorial, it states you should use the second type...
