--- Quote ---Maybe I should get the new 7790, balanced between the 7770 and the 7850 for £120 and an i5

7770/7790 aren't worth laying in i5 machine...

i do own a i5 3550 and a 7770 , no problem so far , i can play everything (almost maxed out) . I have a 20 inch monitor (1600x900) and that's enough for me.

[MAF]Snoopy:
I found a nice 2500k for £140 used on Ebay, Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else. Now I will just get a cheap 7850 and a cheap Intel motherboard and I will be set

[MAF]Snoopy:
VTX3D Black Edition Radeon HD 7870 (Tahiti LE) OC 2GB GDDR5

£180 with 5 free games!

BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs & Hitman: Absolution

avoid VTX3D brand , is litteraly SHIT

pay for more , but go with Sapphire/Gigabyte/Asus/MSI

[LSR]Jalicno:
VTX is Powercolor, aka TUL Corporation there is nothing bad with them...For sure they ain't popular as Asus,Saphire or Gigabyte but price is of their cars is often 20% cheaper which is good offer since warranty is exactly same or even longer what gives brands above  ;)

Asus,Gigabyte,VTX -3  years warranty
Saphire,MSI,etc -2  years warraty
