I do not know what percentage of windws XP used worldwide is Genuine (ie purchased) and what percentage of it is pirated (copied). I can understand that Microsoft would definitely like to see all the XP users to move to Windows7, but there is a serious financial limitation that prevents the majority of the worlds computer users. Howsoever Microsoft would think  that all computers should run on Genuine Microsoft windows, the statistics from my country shows that about 20 percent of the population in India survives on 1 dollor a day, and another 50 percent of the population survivies on 2 dollars a day. And these are not cattle, these are human beings, who may need to send a mail or receive a mail some day and may need to have access to a computer when their children go to school. So what about these guys. Will you consider these guys pirates if they assemble an entry level pc from a local compurter techinician and install a pirated copy of windows XP on it?

They would not even dream of purchasing a licensed copy of windows 7 . As of today the cost of a licensed copy of windows 7 is equivalent to the cost of an assembled low cost PC hardware.
