I think it was necessary to sacrifice democracy for simplicity and predictability. If I choose a different player now, I can't guarantee they would join. If I choose them on the day, people don't know what to expect. If I made some system where people submit applications and then I choose one randomly, well I wanted to just create something simple. Events are generally made for regular players because new players have a whole new server to experience anyway.

yeah don't see anything wrong with it, it's moo's server and most people love those races. if anything new players are the ones it appeals to the most.
