Hehe Dodger nice one but doubt that fit his criteria especially diesel one what often come with problems on high pressure pump built by Siemens/Bosch. Even i was close to buy station vagon (familly came bigger) called V50 - share same engine. Price and condition of car was great but when i heard that engine doesn't like poor quality of diesel what is common in country as is mine as Max's is i have denied deal to buy car just to prevent possible big loose of cash if fault come...

@Max i was talking about Astra Bertone model with 2000cm3 engine, models with 1.6 or 1.8 aren't target of people who ask for exotic as should be Twin Top they driving something what isn't originally designed as is. For example you can see Astra G with engine from Corsa 1.2 but there is no any pleasure or reliability just car is too weak for any usage...

Major problem in Poland is service support what Serbia share too, parts for German cars(Opel,VW,Audi,BMW) you see even in every market but problems comes if you are owner of Honda, Mazda, Subary and so on. Won't even name American brands, parts you see just on Ebay but if you need some experienced mechanic you are stuck. Thats why i am mostly against Dodge Avanger or any Chevrolet what i see in my town.

If you want some really good suggestion try put some more info in your criteria. Engine power or size doesn't make car at all. Be more specific what you prefer petrol or turbo petrol or at least diesel turbo cause they are not equal definetly and surely they not make same power. Also about segment of car, do you want really Twin Top cause Mazda MX5 could fit that criteria too or you want some bigger for example Mazda 3 or Mazda 5.

i see.

not too familiar with the problems, generally volvos atleast here are cheap in repairs if it were to happen

all around a comfortable car with space, if it isnt necessary i guess dont get a wagon, and/or non diesel ;)

you can get v70's with AWD too, i would suggest the latest version of v70 which is called classic, year 07-08 comes with all gear, awesome deal's. unfortunately chassy of the newer version are much more sexy than  the -9 versions  :P

For Gen7 Celica, avoid pre-facelift models (before 2003 I think, best to check yourself), because the pistons can warp slightly and burn oil. Also if you go for 190hp VVT-iL model (AKA GT-S in US market) make sure you get a big boost at high RPM, otherwise you know lift bolts have broken. Lift bolts are easy to replace before they break but not after.

Gen7 Celica is also chain driven so no worries about replacing cambelt on high mileage models.

Imo 140hp model is 'fast enough' for everyday use, it has a similar performance to the Golf GTI of the time.

Here few points I require:

2 - FWD or AWD, not intrested in RWD
3 - Power around 150-170, no more than 200 horses
4 - Engine no more than 2.0L

These 3 things, why not?

2. Not expirienced enough to care at RWD , also I need often to hillclimb in winter or rain. I'm bit affraid of fishtailing yet.
3. Alfa had 90 horses, now wanna update to something from 150-170, don't wanna already powerful beast with over 200 horsepower. I'm not expirienced enough to handle that power, and knowing myself, it would be too tempting, so for my own safety, don't wanna more.
4. Expencive taxes for anything over 2.0 L in Poland

2. I wouldn't worry about it. Steep gravel roads haven't done anything I can't handle.
3. As Jalicno said, 90-150-170 horsepower is not a huge upgrade and barely a noticeable. I wouldn't say I was a experienced driver (probably around 100.000 km), but my 200+ hp 535 is a handful in some situations. Welded diff and sudden throttle inputs don't go well together if you're not up for some involuntary drifting.
4. I haven't even thought of that...

Ye forgot about power to weight ratio. Alfa weight 1 T and had 90 horses, so it was good ratio. Seems like to update I would need 200+ horses per 1500 kg weight.
150-170 per 1500kg won't make diffrence.

In class <2000cm3 up to 200HP and good ratio you see just few models all are turbo powered...

Been driving 150 horsed car. Indeed not really big update, cars with modern systems weight more, and 150 horses isnt much better than 90 horses I had in lightweight Alfa. Updated 1st post.

Heavy car. Knowing Audi, there are expencive springs and whole suspensions.

I'm not so fond of diesels, I woulnt suggest getting it, since 2.5 V6 is one of well-known VAG failure engines.

If You really, really want and like this model, get it - if you aren't in love with these A6, move along. This can be toxic relation to Your pockets and wallet.

.

My brother had a 2004 A4 1.8t. As Max said, car is heavy but it sticks to the road like a champ. Interior is great which is pretty much the same on A4/a6. But big downside as max said is service and replacementparts costs, unless you want to do it yourself.

Good car but doubt you will find happiness with A6 2.5T
Car is nearly 2000Kg and 4.8m long, you need huge experience if you are about to drive that in town. Think about parking also 180HP makes car thirsty so be prepared on 15 liters or even more. What to say about expensive taxes and how much cost you euro per Kilometer that beast.
400.000 km on dash is something what you need target, so be prepared on attack on your pocket when comes paycheck if you are about to proper service that car.
