So guys, it's still gonna be tt, but here's the new layout.

I've taken inspiration from this year's world cup (and my original plans years ago) to make a league/knockout style tournament.

How it will work:
Group Stage
-Everyone will be randomly split into 16 groups of 5 players.
-The top players will be seeded through highscores to ensure that we don't get the 6 best players in the same group (kinda like champions league).
-Each player will 'race' every other player in the group twice. This means, with 5 in a group, everyone will race 8 times, with each tt race's times compared to one other player.
-Because of uneven numbers in each group, there will be 10 rounds and everyone will have 2 byes. I hope that makes sense for everyone.
-The winner of the tt dual will receive 3 points, the loser 0.
-For example: My first race is against mooman, and my time is 2 seconds faster,  so I get 3 points. My second race is against Snoopy, and my time is 10 seconds faster, so I get 3 points. In total I now have 6 points.
-After the 8 races, the two players with the most points will progress to the next stage.
-In the event of 2 or more players at the top of the group having the same points, a bonus round will be played, where the players with the best times will progress.

I think the biggest benefit of this is that if you have a problem in one race, say a timeout or some other bad luck, you are not immediately out of the tournament. You can still win other races to get to first or second place in the group and then progress to the knockout stage.

Knockout Stage
-After the group stage, the top 2 players from each group will be randomly drawn an opponent (probably the best idea is to draw each player who finished 1st against a player who finished 2nd in another group).
-The two players will drive a tt race, the driver with the best time progressing to the next round.

Here are examples of what I'm thinking:

Could also add something like bonus points for the best overall time every round in the group stage or something.

I'm open to ideas, as this is the first time I've written all this down.

EDIT:
Not going to update the pictures, but as I've edited above, there will be 16 groups, with 5 players in each group.

Also, make sure you put the most popular vehicles in first several rounds, I don't want to race with super gt/sabre/hotring in the first race...

In my dreams :(

Max, I might count the voting so that people vote for cars in categories, so that maybe we get some different cars this time. Maybe mower!
