How do I get rid of this shit?
« on: November 26, 2013, 02:35:19 pm »
Lately I've been getting bullshit like this, pop up ads, and new ads on youtube I've never seen before. Probably malware but I'd like to know what to do about it.

I had this problem too, what browser do you use? And do you use the AdBlocker?  If yes, delete it then. I had the same problem as you.

Had the same stuff, too.

It's not about Ad Block, it's another browser extension which just installs itself (Third-party extension). Check your browser plugins etc., I'm sure you will find this shit somewhere there and uninstall it. Happens lately to multiple browser and all of them are aware of the problem and working on it.

A friend of mine helped me get rid of the rest this shit might (possibly) place on your pc, I'm not at home right now, so I'm gonna add a link to the program for you later.

If you use Google Chrome or Torch, go to New Tab>Settings>Extensions> and there you can disable (needed) and remove all the extensions you don't need. I have only Ad Block and DefaultTab extensions enabled.

backup your data with import/export or sync, then completely wipe and reinstall the browser along with it's folder.
if it still doesn't work, look in google how to clean registry from browser viruses.

It's not a gap in your pc security, it's a gap in the browser security, which will be fixed soon.

Edit: Here is something I have found, see for yourself if this might help you. They give a tutorial on how to deinstall that browser extension you mentioned: Link

Yeah it's definitely Tube Dimmer. It keeps installing itself which is bad, but I'll try your way if I get too sick of it lol.

Just use this tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

It helped me get rid of my shit extension and even found traces of some old stuff I thought I had completely deleted.
