Best Free Antivirus
« on: June 04, 2013, 11:44:38 pm »
The free period of the antivirus that originally came with my notebook is about to expire, and I'd like to know what free antivirus is the best to install. The main options are Avast, AVG and Avira not because I personally prefer them, but because some people recomended me those. If you vote ''Other'' please specify :L

btw I use the notebook mainly for internet and files in word, excel, etc, if that's relevant...

had avira, but their ads are pretty unacceptable and annoying(and the ways to remove them didn't work lately), now i have avast, and the only complaint so far is the frequency at which it reminds of an update(a bigger one, not just data).
as far as protection goes i heard both of them are somewhat decent, but i'm no expert here.

i've heard some good things about ms security essentials, but then again, dunno anything more and i have heard good things about IE too...

i'm somehow hoping of living without an antivirus in my phone lol, just have to be careful with what i install.
my phone isn't quite as fast to not worry about a scanner running in the background
i wonder how many of you even use AV for a phone?

I havent tried Avira but I have my experience with both Avast and AVG and I can say that AVG is better for me. When I was using Avast, my internet connection wasn't working properly and lagged, no idea why. Since I've started using AVG, there were no more problems for me.
So I really recommend it ;)

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I know it's far from the best but it's 'good enough' and doesn't take too much attention or processing power.

avira was fine, but i didn't like anyone getting away with showing me ads, often in a quite annoying way too, so i got rid of it. :P

not using an av on a pc is quite risky, and its just a matter of time until you will get something. yeah, it is that bad.

You really aren't, its really easy to get a virus from facebook f.x. You're always better off with something that might happen. Better be safe than sorry.
