FPS Lag
« on: May 04, 2013, 09:37:27 am »
Hey guys, since 3 days ago I'm having terrible fps lag, my fps drop from 60 to 10 during 4 seconds.

I didn't change anything from my San Andreas folder and I don't find anything that could be the problem; I reinstalled the game like almost 3 or 4 times and the problem stills there.

Any ideas?  :-X

defrag your hard disk.

Check for spyware/malware things

Take a look at CPU/GPU temperature , it may be an overheating problem.

if those drops happen with other games , maybe your hard disk has some problems. download hd tune and see if there are sectors damaged/reallocated.

a format won't help, although it might ease it a bit.
a broken hard drive remains a broken one, at best you could try to disable the bad sectors(doesn't help 100%), but the failures most likely will keep happening, so prepare for HDD switch.
back up your data asap and get a new HDD, they're relatively cheap at least.

HDDs aren't one of those things that are very dependant on the manufacturer, but i recommend going with one that is at least 7200rpm and 1TB, as 1TB costs only about 30% more than 500GB ones. it all depends on your needs, but don't go with 5400rpm ones, because they are slower and slow HDD can be quite annoying. from more detailed specifications, ones with bigger cache and SATA3 should be preferred, although the difference is probably insignificant.
also, make sure to pick the right size, which is 3.5'' for desktops.

Buy a SSD Hard disk, i know it doesn't have too much space as a HDD but it's much faster..
