pc crashes
« on: March 25, 2013, 01:32:55 pm »
Hi, past few days I've been having some weird pc crashes. It started when i plugged in my new monitor, but that doesn't seem to be the problem as I've plugged in my old one and the same crashes happen. I formatted  my hdd because I thought some program was interfering, but the crashes still continued on a fresh w7. The crashes got less after I've installed the Nvidia beta drivers. They're pretty random, sometimes I can play games with no problems and sometimes there are periods where my pc will freeze when I open google chrome. It just freezes like if there was a blue screen, but there isn't one. The sound (if any) loops and nothing can be done except to do a hard reboot. My cpu and gpu temps are both under 30 when idle, so it can't be an overheating issue. Anyone knows how to fix this, or which component might cause this?

it may be a RAM or PSU problem

do a MEMTEST  to see if you get errors.

openhardwaremonitor

the memtest showed 0 errors, i also forgot to mention that my monitor often loses signal, sometimes picking it up again but mostly just staying black

remember that the memtest takes up to 8-10 hours to complete

if monitor lose signal imho there's something wrong with gpu or psu

It depends  how many modules you are testing. Single modules for me, minimum 3-5 passes each. If it's basic stability testing on a fresh build, 1-2 passes with all modules installed. Horrible stability issues or "gremlins" where you can't find the issue, 10+ passes or even overnight if needed.

if there are any errors  you should see it already at first pass

i was also losing monitor signal in the last 2 weeks, and yesterday my computer kept restarting itself over and over and suddenly stopped working. any suggestions on what it might be? i think it could be the power supply
