If R can't get anywhere with the script I can suggest a different way of running the tournament...
We can all do time trials and simply, the bottom however number of people get eliminated at the end of that round.
Of course we have to make a certain number of new races, ones that people can't practise on beforehand.
This is much easier to run, a much easier script to make and with admins on all the time, people can do their runs whenever and the admin can just post the times on the forum.
The race maker will have to be someone that won't participate in the tournament of course..
