countdown after race
« on: November 27, 2011, 09:45:59 am »
uhm can the countdown start like from 60 sec after the 1st person finished? i think its kinda long to wait 2 min after a 1 min race for a bunch of slow people to finish. i understand that we all start slow when we start racing but people dont have to finish to learn do they? dont wanna sound egoistic but yeahhh..... good example are these balls of steel races etc, where the race lasts a few secs and then a 50 sec countdown.

50 secs might seem like a long time after a 10 sec race but we need to have time for slow people to finish and vote which is impossible if the whole race is is 30 seconds. the 60 seconds from first finisher doesn't work and results in many people not finishing for longer races

That's one of the things I don't like about MTA, not enough time sometimes to finish the race.

Agreed.

And imagine races that are short but take a few shots before you finish (in case you fail).

Most races will have like 80 seconds after the first few people finish. That's no problem if you ask me.

The issue comes when we've all finished the race, but still have wait.

Could scan progress, if players are above 70% through race, don't skip.  If the only players still racing are less than that, load next race.

Letting unskilled racers finish is sure to keep them interested.  As MTA has proven, rushing next race is not a good thing.

hard part is figuring out if they're 70% through the race, CPs aren't always evenly distributed :(

Most of the time, i let the server do this job, but sometimes, before skiping a race, i check /progress to see the guys  leading the race but who havent finished yet.

If he's far from end i skip if he's close , i check next one ... untill  i know who could be the last to finish and wait for him or even pause.

same when someone is asking for pause, i check progress to see if it's not to annoying for others to wait.
