I bring you very upsetting news, the GTA:MP project has been abandoned and FiveM is in the process of stopping.

Take-Two (owner of Rockstar Games) sent private investigators to the homes of two GTA:MP developers and FiveM's NTAuthority. The investigators put them onto the phone to T2's senior vice president who said if they did not stop their multiplayer projects T2 would start taking legal action.

This is very sad particularly for me because having played SA:MP for many years I was really looking forward to the new generation, especially since GTA:O does not deliver that experience.

Some links

NTAuthority's account of his encounter:
Quote
So I just got a pair of PIs at my door claiming to be sent by Take Two, handing me a phone with a person somewhere in the UK or US or whatever to 'discuss how to cease my activities with regard to Grand Theft Auto', that 'they know what happened before with Activision and want to not get the lawyers involved at this time', however they 'have tested their legal standing already and are quite certain of their point' and 'aren't willing to accept any solution other than ceasing my activiites'. Oh, they also 'couldn't disclose any conversations they're having with other modification developers', didn't want to talk about general modification policy as 'it was just about my case' and admitted they 'looked through my source code'.
Fun times!

Petition to allow GTA:MP to continue (don't worry, it's in English):

It sounds like the days of SA:MP-style mods are over, there is too much of a commercial focus on the monetisation of GTA:O at the expense of gameplay, innovation and creativity. At this point I honestly wish GTA V was just a single player game so none of this would have happened.

Can't Rockstar just create a server for people using mods and place them there instead? I knew this V-MP thingy wouldn't be successful because Rockstar has taken serious action with regards to Online Mode.

New update for GTA:O next week!

It looks so ridiculously awesome, but I'm afraid that I can't afford it all... I got $3 million left, so that will be no private yacht or luxury appartment in Vinewood for me...

Rockstar is now suing the author of FiveM (the GTA:V equivalent of SA:MP), welcome to the future of video games.

This video is really mind-blowing! I really recommend you guys to watch it if you always loved gta 4...
When I watched this video, it really makes me want to play gta 4 again instead of gta 5, it's just those little things...

GTA V lost the realistic stuffs that GTA IV had (Except the driving NPCs). Cop chases in IV gets harder and harder (not for some people), driving physics is way better (GTA V feels like half the perfect grip cheat is on)

Interesting video, but I just don't think IV is better than V. It's a bit more realistic yes, but it's just so gray.. Kinda boring too, one big city and not much to do after finishing the main story. Good game, but not as good as V imo

I understand. But, Rockstar intended to make the city look sad and it fits the game's atmosphere perfectly.

Another throwback, now to the 80s! I'm still amazed what kind of videos people can make with gta 5. This time it is a parody of Miami Vice with some familiar 80s music that we know of Vice City.

The devs of old and dead GTA:MP project are about to work on Just Cause 3. If you want to follow the news you can use https://discordapp.com/ and then look for #gta-multiplayer channel.
