Your car...

[LSR]Jalicno:

--- Quote ---there is still huge quality gap between fiat and e.g. audi produced at that time. At least all the parts I had to replace were reasonably cheaper.

Uh mate you compare something what isn't possible compare.
Audi have long history and for sure quality whole time that is why prices are higher.
Of course they have total different strategy what car should be,they not trying make unsafe small car and to cost like Fiat Punto 10K euro,
at that time instead of Audi A3 who cost like double...
Fiat never was such quality,it was cheap and good for money what you pay same as VW if you trying compare Fiat with Germans cars and parts

[MAF]MrHess:
well yeah, I ride in a 38 year old VW :P

[MAF]Epoxi:
Not to mention the insurance on an Audi costs more than 5x what the Punto's costs (at least in the UK anyway).

Tommmmmmm:
insurance on my dad's Punto (mk1) jumped from I think £250 last year, to £380 this year, and that's with 70% discount because of his no claims. I'd actually choose a fiat over an audi because of their basic engine and components, not to mention fuel costs  :o

lol69:
here in PL there is no much difference what car you drive. Insurance cost of the aforementioned vehicles would be similar. All that matters is the age and how many claims one had.

I don't know what's wrong with the insurance companies... I'll be renewing mine in few weeks.
Instead of paying less, I am supposed to pay 70 PLN (~ 15 pounds) more. Last year I paid 550 PLN (~110 GBP). I'm still a young driver, had no claims for almost 5 years. It's kind of annoying. I know how your father feels now.
