Gen's Monda
« on: June 20, 2011, 04:13:49 pm »
Bought a car recently, like 3 weeks ago. Thought I'd share with you lot what the purchase was.

It's a Honda Civic 1.4 66kW, 1995. I named it Monda because the keychain on the keys doesn't look like a H but more like an M(onda). Awesome reason, eh!

What else...front wheel drive, fuel consumption in town area is around 7l/100km
Mileage is pretty decent, only at 155k, could be false though, never know what the previous owners have done exactly. Has only driven 11k kilometers in the last 4 years, which I like. The previous owner was a pretty old guy, didn't drive much.

Nothing really to complain about, the engine is in great shape, only the body has seen its share of years. Got some small dents here and there, but nothing that really catches the eye. From a distance it's a real beaut, imo.

Insurance was also cheap, 20 euros per month and this is the first time I've insured something. My father, for example, has a clean record, no crashes, and his insurance costs 50 euros for the whole year.

What I've done is bought some new rims, erased some rust, new radio, new speakers, and other minor details fixed.

Good one gen,Honda is great Japanese brand 2nd best after Mazda in my opinion.
155k is not much if you doing service when is time be sure you will pass 100k more without problems.
Buy some alloy wheels for summer 15" and that is almost all what i have on mind at this moment including some muffler to make machine sounds stronger :)
Once again i happy cause i see there another Japanese car in AX community  :-*

Hard to buy parts to!
The parts soon going to break down!
The body isnt massive. apt to break.

The japanese engines the one thing, what is good in the japanese cars.

lol

Hard to buy parts?Mate where you living in some village where people only drive Golf or some Italian crap cause both are cheap and parts can buy in local shop where you also can find milk and bread?
Japanese not sell their license for parts to other cause wont let others to make fake copy with crappy quality as German and Italians doing whole time. They caring about their customers and their brand that is why you can only find original.
Massive car?Might be you have no idea about classes of cars. Not sure any brand making solid massive car for people who will spend 80% on drive short distance with huge traffic in big cities.Would you drive 5 meters long BMW series 5 or Toyota Yaris is way better option ;)

idk if there aren't many japanese cars in hungary, but in France you still find some japanese cars, especially a lot of yaris, or also some civic... and I've rarely seen people being unsatisfied by their japanese car (unlike many with french cars, or also fiat VW...). In my family we have a toyota corolla from 1990 and a mazda 323 from 1991, the corolla is perfect, the 323 cries a little to accelerate but still drives like a charm (I reached 140 km/h with it, it's an automatic with only 3 gears lol).
If I buy a car soon I'll rather buy a japanese (maybe yaris or 3 doors civic)

This 5dr Civic model was very popular and shares parts with the Rover 45, so will be easy to find parts for.
