BR0K3N PC

Well, I went out earlier, and when I got back, the PC was broke. The story behind it is that my dad had thought the PC was on sleep mode, when it was actually just a black screensaver. So he pressed the OFF button on the PC, since it usually wakes the PC up. So obviously, at this point, the PC had started to shut down as it was just a screensaver. About 15 minutes later, the PC was still shutting down, so my dad held the OFF switch. Then, when he tried to switch the PC back on, there was an error saying something about the registry file being missing or corrupted. The instructions say to reinstall Vista with the disk, but we don't have it anymore. Are there any other methods of fixing this problem that don't require a disk?

Also, for those of you wondering how I have access to the website atm, I'm using my laptop.

[MAF]Snoopy:
what is the missing file?

ǝǝǝoſ[sXɐ]:
Dunno, it just says "the registry file".

EDIT: I've just found out how to check which file is corrupted, but I won't be able to get back on my PC until tomorrow.

[MAF]Vertigo:
Doesn't just pressing the off button put it INTO hibernation mode?

Then again my comp doesn't like going into hibernate mode and in that case
i hold the off button too (that's if i accidentaly press the off button).

But comp is usually fine after that.

[MAF]Epoxi:
Whenever I get a problem like this I have to reinstall Windows. But my copy of Windows is on an image CD given by Toshiba, so I have to backup all my files and reformat.  >:(

But yeah, shove Windows CD in and reinstall, then run Windows Update to get back up to date.
