burnout paradise terribly slow?

hi,

I downloaded burnout paradise: the ultimate box earlier, installed perfectly, but for some reason when i try to load it its extremely slow. it took around 10 minutes just to get to the "choose and car/bike" part and i had(I'm guessing) 3fps.....
this is weird because when i had COD4 it would be running around 10-15fps and its a much more demanding game.

so if anyone can help i will be really grateful ive wanted this game for a while and just want to play it  :)
