Nah, blowing up is not a good idea I think.. maybe time penalties can be given at the finish or at each CP if not reached in time?

Btw, I see a new race mode.. time till next cp racing? Would be pretty nice I guess! Just like rally games.

yeha but the problem in drift mode is people get really high scores by going off course at the end and collecting more points.
that's why a cp time limit would be needed. maybe not blowing up...but losing the score you are on at that time maybe?

Maybe a time limit (like 30sec till next cp) or else you'll lose your score.. and a bonus for the place you finished(1st, 2nd, etc)
