i'd love to play through it again but my mouse just died completely after not working properly for months tabbing everywhere is NOT fun

I paid £2 (including postage) for an optical mouse from China on eBay. Works perfect.

Anyway, if my computer can play SA comfortably...can it manage Portal?

looks like you meet the minimum sys reqs. it's not really a graphically intensive game anyway so you might be alright
