If u need cheap car, buy a Daewoo Matiz, search TOP version with, 2 airbags, ABS and power steering (simple Engine 800cm3 ) 55 HP you can also install LPG :D if is that popular fuel in UK :P

If he live in London -" A mega traffic "City he don't  need a 5,7 Hemi :D to move 5km/h :D IMO Matiz is good solution for big city

For under £1k and Group 3 or lower insurance i can't get hung up on looks. I need a car that is reliable, not a stunner.

Engine capacity was increased from 594 cc to 652 cc at the end of 1977 when the cylinder bore was increased from 73.5 to 77 mm. Claimed power output was unchanged at 23 PS (17 kW; 23 hp), but torque was increased from 39Nm (4.0 mkg) to 43Nm (4.4 mkg).

If this car break down you will repair it using hammer 8)
